I only took 2 Subject Tests...both of them were math...Chance please?

To sum up, I feel that I have a pretty strong Extra Curricular, but my standardized tests are sub par. Especially since I only took 2 subject tests, both of them are math...I plan to be an Engineering major, would this really hinder my chances in getting into my reach schools?

I know that I am out of Cornell, because I just found out today that it is a REQUIREMENT to take at least 1 math and 1 science...

If I take a science test in January, would it be too late for them to accept? What do you guys think? Thank you so much for your help.

Well your SAT’s are slightly above subpar. YES!! Cornell DOES accept the January 24 SAT. I myself have a 740 Math I Subject test and didn’t realize that i needed a science to get into cornell school of engineering. ALthough I might just change my major. If you haven’t registered for your SAT on january just do the late registration fee. The 23 dollars that you will pay will be worth it… But make sure that you DO select cornell and the other schools that you have applied to as your candidates to submit scores. THis will make sure that your scores are AUTOMATICALLY sent after they are released! Best of luck in ur application process!!!

(o:

How do you know 100% that Cornell takes the January 24th SAT?
Also, how do you just change your major? Don’t you apply to a specific school?
Thank you! Good luck to you as well.

he nvr said a 100% took it

Oh I’m sorry, I guess I meant: Do you know 100%? If so, how?

Any other opinions?

If you are applying to Cornell’s college of arts and sciences, then your sats scores, 1370/1600, a little weak…

Its weak for Johns Hopkins too…

For carnegie mellon, if its engineering or computer science that you are applying to, then your scores might hurt…

For the other schools you have good chances… good luck.

MCS and SCS at CMU both require a math and a science as well…
and the Freshmen Application information PDF says “preferably by November, but no later than December.” I guess you could try it and see what happens, or contact them and ask if it’d be okay.

I know because I called the admissions office… The lady told me that they did. And I believe she said that it was posted on the Cornell website…
Changing my major… Yeah I know. I am thinking of calling after the winter break and speak to a representative. Hopefully there is something I can do. I didn’t realize it until three days after I had submitted. Good thing I applied to other backup schools. Dumb errors…
Best of luck once again…

Oh okay, thank you for your input. I’ll try my best to get in touch with them as soon as they can to see what they suggest.

And I applied to CIT for Carnegie Mellon, which requires any 2 Subject tests on math or science except bio. Since I took 2 maths, I think I’ll be okay.

The two separate "or"s and a separate line for maths and sciences made me think one from each line was necessary.

I guess I would ask about it and cite the confusing requirements listing as to why you don’t have a science? I could be wrong, but that’s just what I interpreted it as. Wouldn’t want to not get in because you misinterpreted the requirements, IMO.

Oh crap…
You’re right…

=/

What should I do? I completely interpreted that incorrectly!
UGHH that’s 2 schools already! =(

Admissions might be understanding. The thing was quite unclear, and even moreso in the PDF for freshmen applicants (all on one line). Calling might help…better than nothing, at least.

Does Cornell accept January SAT? And I want proof.

I called Carnegie Mellon and Johns Hopkins today…
The representative thought that I could take 2 of any of those 4 tests too! Then I asked if she could double check. It took her 3 or 4 minutes, and apologized and that It’s 1 math and 1 science. I asked her if there’s anything I could do and they said that I can take the test in January, and they’ll accept the scores, but they can’t guarantee that they’ll receive the scores before they review my application. Johns Hopkins says the same thing. =/

I spoke to my parents about this situation and they told me to do everything I can, study hard for this Physics test, and just hope for the best. That’s what I plan to do for the remainder of this month.

Something is CLEARLY wrong with their requirements listing, then. At least you’re off the hook for that.
