I owe tuition and can't attend graduate school until it is paid off.

I spent my very last semester taking one class so I didn't qualify for financial aid since it was only one class. I finished that class and I got offered a TA position at another university spring 2015 but I unless I pay off my class my school won't release my transcript or give me my diploma.

That’s right. You owe them money. Pay your bills and you will get your transcript and your diploma.

Do you think they should issue these to you with an outstanding balance? Did you think you would NOT have to pay to take that course?

Of course not I’m not trying to get out of it I’m just trying to find a way to pay it off as quickly as possible.

If anyone has any useful suggestions on grants/loans that I could look into, that would be great.

I would think you can get a personal loan at a bank, with a cosigner. It is unlikely that you will get any grant money for a term that has ended. Grants are usually given prior to the term starting.

Becsuse you were taking only one course, which is far less than half time, I don’t think you are eligible for any federally funded loan money.

Which term are you short on…spring of last year…or fall this year?

How much do you need? Can you ask your family to give you some/all of it for Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate?

fall this year. I tried a bank but my cosigner won’t be able to help until maybe january and there’s still a possibility that their credit won’t be enough. I got into a rush because I received a message a couple of weeks ago about the TA position this spring. I started saving money but this semester has been rough on myself, as well as others financially.

I need $2300. I accumulated so many credit hours they charged me out-of-state tuition.

Sit down with the people at the bursar’s office, and find out what you would need to do to set up a payment plan. They may be willing to do that knowing that you have a job waiting for you elsewhere.

Set up a payment plan. You have to pay it off before proceeding.

??

Are you instate? If so, see if you can appeal THAT!

Did you receive instate tuition as part of a merit aid financial aid package…as long as you were attending full time? This could be the problem, if you are OOS.

Ask that grad school if you can start in August…and then work and pay off that debt.

If you were to get a private loan, how would that get paid off?

You “need” $2300…how much did you pay at the beginning of the semester? Nothing?
