I'm aware that the school forms area of the common app is where you list the counselor and teachers who will be giving you the letters of recommendations, however in another section of the common app I placed my actual counselor as my counselor, but in the school form I picked the one who I want to write the letter of recommendation about me because she knows me a lot better. Is this allowed? Would this lead to complications?

Universities I'm applying to include Brown, Yale and Stanford if it matters at all.

I don’t think that’s allowed. I’m pretty sure it’s mandatory that YOU’RE counselor gives it. I know at our school this year half of the students were assigned a new counselor, even though tehir previous one they had for all 3 previous years of high school. However, it’s still the newer counselor that has been sending transcripts, writing their recs, etc.

I’m not certain though.

No ones been able to answer the question being absolutely certain. I’ve even asked officials at my school and they’re not sure :/.
