So I made the dumbest mistake and plagiarized in my freshman year of high school. I copied an old essay from my sister. I got caught and got a day of after school detention. I was able to redo the assignment. I’m a junior in high school now and I’ve been thinking about college. Im worried that i might not be able to get into a good school because of what I did.
It’s probably not going to be a huge problem–you were a 9th grader, after all, and no reasonable person expects a 9th grader to have foresight or maturity. That said, you’ll have to explain it in the Common App, and you should do so with appropriate circumspection and honesty, @octaviablake23
