i posted this earlier, but still someone please help

well i'm from NJ and i have a 3.13 GPA (i know, its horrible) and a 1970 SAT and also a 28 ACT....people are all telling me to apply to rutgers but i really don't want to go there...i'm also somewhat scared i won't even get in.

money isn't really that much of a problem
i would really like to be in boston or the west coast
i would prefer large, but small is okay if necessary
i really, really, really love basketball and having that at a university would be awesome but not required
i am a hindu and don't really feel i would enjoy going to a christian/catholic university

please help

I DONT KNOW WHERE TO GO! (possibly for biology, premed, biochem, or environmental science/environmental engineering)

Have you thought about the University of Pittsburgh? It would be a reach for you with your current GPA, but perhaps there are factors that explain why it isn’t higher (difficult freshman year, very challenging courseload, health or personal problems). Your ACT and SAT are comfortably within Pitt’s middle 50th percentile. The disconnect between scores and GPA will have to be explained, but if there’s a good reason, you’d have a decent chance at being admitted. You can increase that chance by applying very early this fall, since admissions at Pitt are rolling, and by going all-out to raise your GPA first semester, in case you’re deferred.

Pittsburgh’s a great town, and sports are big at Pitt.

thanks! i’ll check out pitt…my parents would love that, as they lived in pittsburgh when they first came to america

and yeah, my GPA i really screwed up there

How do you feel about Philadelphia? Would you consider Temple?

Look at these schools [Atlantic 10 Conference Official Athletic Site - About the](http://www.atlantic10.com/about/institutions.html). I’ll put in a plug for U Dayton.

my brother was at drexel, and he loved phili…i’m not so sure though

A side piece of advice: all the premed related majors can be brutal, anything that requires early chem, bio, neuro. You want to take a responsible look at what happened to your gpa and why, whether you are truly suited to STEM. If that’s your current strength, fine. If you struggle through math and sci classes, please have back up possibilities in mind, as you look at schools.

well my strengths are in science, mostly biology but i am in advanced level math however i don’t have stellar grades in that area.
