I probably won't get in, will I? :/

UC Davis is probably my first choice and I’d really like to be accepted there. I’d appreciate it if anyone took the time to chance me.

Total GPA(unweighted): 3.19
Total GPA (weighted): 3.71
UC GPA (weighted): 3.5

SAT I English: 690
SAT I Math: 610
SAT I Writing: 530
SAT I Total: 1830

SAT II Math 2: 580
SAT II US History: 610
SAT II Biology(M): 750

AP Biology Score: 5

Rank: 87/709

I have no extracurriculars, other than one year of Swing(dancing) Club :/

I am male, Hispanic/Latino, and I applied for Ecology/Evolutionary Bio, with Animal Biology as a second choice.

It’s hard to say. If your essay is really good you still have a chance. UCD is also my first choice and I’m scared I won’t be able to get in either ): I have similar GPA and SAT scores as you though I got 700+ for my SAT 2 subject tests.

I took four AP exams as well, scoring 4+ and I guess I have soem ECs too. I’m just scared that UCD won’t give much admission to OOS students > <

It really is hard to say. Never completely discount your chances, and that goes both ways. I was rejected by Cal Poly Slo but excepted by UCD (whaa?)
I had something like a 3.4 gpa, 1860 sat, (like your sats, but switched math and eng) 700/630 math/eng for my sat2s, failed ap bio with a 2, passed ap calc and ap stats with 3’s, no extra curriculars.
It leads me to believe that the essay has a fair amount of weight. I think (though too late now) a big factor is just being real and showing your personality. Sad stories and tough times aren’t shoo ins for schools.
Finally, if you don’t get in, and it’s something you want, appeal. You might be surprised at the percentage of people who get in through appeals.

You really can’t sit here and just post up your stats and expect someone to tell you “you’re totally going to get in 100%” because it won’t happen. I was like this a year ago too. I’m sure you’re nervous about acceptances, but there really is nothing else to do except wait for that letter/e-mail to come in. I mean if you start to build your confidence on top of what people on the internet say, then you may be disappointed in the end. Expect to adjust to whatever the decision is. You can always appeal, don’t forget that. And if it doesn’t work out, then try community or another school that accepts you.

Also, don’t compare your stats to other people. They evaluate you as an INDIVIDUAL, not strictly the numbers attached to your application. Grades are important, but so are SATs, essays, rank. It’s easy to obsess over all these things, and I did, too. But just remember that it’s an evaluation of you as a PERSON. What you lack in one area may contribute to something else that other people lack.

The whole process of acceptance has so many different factors it’s difficult to say anything at all. 2nd years at Davis generally had more competitive stats. But you see, you don’t find these things out until it really doesn’t matter anymore.

So…for now just sit tight and hope for the best. I do hope you get in because I think Davis has a really nurturing environment for freshmen. Best of luck!

Thank you guys for the comments, I guess I’m mostly worried because my stats are pretty borderline as it is, plus I applied to be in the College of Biological Sciences, which is supposed to be the most competitive. I feel like I did fairly decent on my essay, but nothing spectacular. I’ll be sure to appeal if I don’t get accepted too.
