Yes I know... I'm the dumbest person on earth...What was I thinking? 53 weeks in a year?!?!

Do you think I should call the Admissions Office and ask them to change it?

Do you think I should call the Admissions Office and ask them to change it?

lol
you should.
It shows you care.
or if you don’t it might be seen as witty and funny, like giving 110% in a basketball game.

If it is a January 1 deadline, its probably too late. If I were you, I would write a funny letter about a stupid reason why you would have put 53 weeks and then fax it to them. Like you spend so much time with that activity you need another week to do the extra work. But make sure they know you are joking, otherwise that could land you in a worse situation. Otherwise, if humor isn’t your thing, I would just let it be.

Or the most amazing human being to ever walk the planet. A person who can do 53 weeks of work in 52 is incredible. I’d leave it.

If I leave it like that, I hope the adcom won’t go, “Ah, a math ■■■■■■ with no common sense. Let’s toss her app. REJECT. Period.”

They’re not that unreasonable. Just let them know.

Well, you could argue that there are 52.14 days in a standard year and you have a preference for rounding up.

LOL Handyandy58- You do know that rounding up 52.14 will be 52, not 53 right?

Anyway thanks guys I’ll call after 1.1 and see what happens.

Don’t worry. They just think it’s a typo.

Standard rounding would dictate that 52.14 would round to 52. However, rounding “up” would mean you round anything more than 52 to 53. Such rounding is useful when shopping. You round the prices up in order to make sure you have enough money.

OK handyandy58 you win, although credit card companies will be bankcrupt if people all learn your rounding “up” theory. :P

^all stores round up on the $0.001 – if there’s anything after the penny, up it goes!

THEY WILL REALIZE IT’S A TYPO. My daughter’s essay to a highly selective liberal arts college required her date of birth under her name. She accidentally typed the wrong year (making her seem age 12!) which none of the proofreaders in our family noticed. She was still accepted. THEY WILL REALIZE IT’S A TYPO.

Where did you put this? Was it in a part about involvement in certain activities?

Haha, I think it’s hilarious. I doubt it’ll hurt you at all- they’ll either figure it’s a typo, or at the very least it’ll give them a little chuckle. I honestly wouldn’t even worry about correcting it.

Where did you put this? Was it in a part about involvement in certain activities?

It’s in the Activity Section in the Common Application. They ask you for the Number of Week Involved Per Year…

And thank you all for your suggestions. I’m feeling a little better now. :)
