Last week I was surprised to find that I received a 600 on the math portion of the SAT. This surprised me because I normally get anywhere from 730-780 on practice tests. It turns out that the collegeboard reports that I omitted ten math questions when I actually answered all questions. I remember that I was confused as to where I put the grid-in questions, so I just put the answers in the next section.

Clearly, I screwed up somewhere in the process. My question is how should I go about remonstrating this? Will the SAT score verification give me credit for my answers even if they might have been in the wrong location? Is there anyway to invalidate such scores?

You could pay $52 for the multiple choice rescoring service. I’ve heard that they’re pretty understanding of mistakes like that (right answers in the wrong section) and that they’ll give you credit for right answers. You won’t get your money back, but you’ll get (likely) a better score.

Thanks for the answers guys. Collegeboard just sent me an email basically saying to screw off and stop annoying them. Here is their answer:

It’s definitely my fault, but I can’t stop from feeling anger towards them. Its not that hard for a hand scorer to look at the next grid-in section and find the answers. I feel like this will ruin my chances for top colleges if they see that I got a 600 math score.

you should have been more careful; now you have only yourself to blame
you wasted all that money and five hours of a saturday morning to get such a mediocre score and now you want to ask for a refund…ha…your delusional kid…real delusional
