I realize many people don't enjoy reading SAT essays but I will be really grateful...

Even just a approx. score would be appreciated:

To change is to risk something, making us feel insecure. Not to change is a bigger risk, though we seldom feel that way. There is no choice but to change. People, however, cannot be motivated to change from the outside. All of our motivation comes from within.

Adapted from Ward Sybouts, Planning in School Administration: A handbook

Assignment: What motivates people to change? Plan and write...blah blah

Essay:

It seems that in this day and age everyone has a negative out look to the idea of change. Change is seen as a means of putting oneself in a new uncomfortable experience which one may or may not enjoy. The idea that 'Not to change is a bigger risk' and the motivation that comes from this risk is what drives change and motivates all humans to change. This change can manifest itself socially, psychologically, or even physically but the concept of change is key to the survival of mankind.

Often an individual prefers not to step out of their social comfort zone. This comfort zone among fiends provides a bubble in which the individual does not have to fear judgement or ridicule. Yet without stepping out of his or her comfort zone, an individual may never create new friendships or widen their horizons. Without breaking the norm, no one will be able to improve their status or social connection thus social change is conducive to social improvement.

Social change can often be prohibited by physical appearance. Motivation to change one's physical appearance comes from the notion that people often 'judge a book by its cover.' Many people feel as though they encounter many lost opportunities due to the way they visually present themselves. For example, if a CEO of a Fortune 500 company is interviewing candidates for a VP job in his corporation, the CEO is much more likely to select a candidate who is clean, well dressed and composed rather than an equally qualified candidate who look as though he lives in a slum, due to physical perception that the clean candidate is better prepared.

Psychological motivation for change may be the most difficult of all. It is rather easy to point out external flaws than it is to point the finger back at oneself due to the fact that internal change may completely change who we are. This internal, psychological change although perceived as difficult is essential in the maturation process because it may dictate whether we are motivated at all socially or physically since 'All of our motivation comes from within.'

All in all, change plays a central role in the life cycle of a modern human being and has great effects on our social, physical, and psychological perception of the world.

PLEASE AND THANK YOU :)

i'm going to have to say a 6 or even a 5. The examples are really vague and not specific. The thesis of your essay is also not very clear. So what motivates change? Your essay does not answer the prompt, but it talks about what change can do for us. I wrote a essay of the same topic, read it and read of the comments under it. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/570810-please-just-take-1-min-your-valuable-time-read-2.html

P.S. the essay is on the second page
