I really don't know if I can get in/what I should do

Okay. Here’s the deal. I’m a HS senior next year and I’m taking the ACT again in September. My unweighted GPA is 3.564 and my current ACT is 27, but I know I can at least get a 28 in September(and I want to get a 31).
After a semester I’ll probably have a 3.59 if I take 5 classes and a 3.61 if I take 6…I can’t decide if it’s worth it to take a 6th.
But I digress. I’ll wrap it up.
GPA: 3.564/possible 3.59 or 3.61
ACT: 27/possible 28-31
Church and Extracurricular: 4 Years of Seminary, active member, eagle scout, NHS Treasurer
AP Classes: 3, all passed.

Do you guys think I can get in? Do you think a 3.61 would really make much of a difference in comparison to a 3.59? Help? lol and thanks.

Hmmm yes but you’ll want to get that GPA up. If you can get your ACT to a 31, I think you’ll have a great chance of getting in. BYU has a pretty high acceptance rate, and it’s okay to be a couple points below the average GPA as long as other parts of your application make up for it (ie your ACT). But in my opinion, a 3.6 looks better than a 3.56. It’s over the 3.6 threshold which could make a difference in your case.

Well I’ll either have a 3.59 or a 3.6 next year. It depends if I take one more class or not. Think I should? Thanks!

You may want others’ opinions as well but I think you should.

I think you’re in, just keep your GPA up Senior year

I don’t know… ACT and GPA are below average. Do you happen to know your seminary grades?

If you apply in December of your senior year, BYU only sees your GPA though your Junior year because that is the only high school transcript you will ever send.

Wow, I swear I’ve replied to this twice already, but apparently not. Anyway, I’ve had all A’s in seminary…And I’ve heard that your senior year’s grades are automatically sent to BYU later. Are you sure they don’t even see Senior Year?

If you apply after first semester of your Senior year your HS transcript will show that semester. Acceptances go out in March so last semester of senior year never is reported and most kids apply the first part of December so no senior grades are reported. I don’t think Seminary grades have any bearing on admission.

Well, I’m applying in the first part of December, so I guess that makes my problem of 5 or 6 classes irrelevant lol. Thanks
