It was originally just a safety school but I got rejected by all of my top choices (UMD, UCONN, and wait-listed at UD). I know its good school but I really think if I go there I will just hate it. One of my big things was a good sports program and JMU really doesn't have that. Plus my brother goes there and I wanted to go to a school by myself.

I wouldn’t put down JMU that quickly. What’s your major? The advantage JMU has over large universities is huge. Smaller class sizes and a more intimate relationship with professors that will help you in the future. There are also many clubs. Even though your brother goes here, you don’t have to see him if you don’t want to. It is a campus of ~18,000. JMU’s sports programs are on the rise. Men’s Basketball won the CAA and they are in the NCAA Tournament. (Beating Indiana tomorrow!) The football program is getting better too and the stadium was just expanded in the past 2 years. If your only choosing a college for a sports program you should reevaluate why you are going to college. While sports programs are great, you should focus on your field of study and what the university has to offer. I’ve never understood the appeal of large schools for undergraduate studies as they are so impersonal in my opinion. JMU provides a quality undergraduate program with a great communal atmosphere with students and professors. I can’t stress how good our business program is either. JMU beats out all the schools you listed if your going for a BBA. The only con of JMU is the party atmosphere can be a little overwhelming at times if your not into that stuff like me, but you find your niche in clubs.
