I dont know how it is for you guys but I hate college. Its been the worse two weeks of my life. I went to this college pretty much because thwy gave me the most mpnwy with a football scholarship but that was a bad idea. Its a small private Christian college and I hate ot so much. They treat you like kids and what I mean by that is they block out tv channels that are "sexually suggestive". They block out websites that may have mature content or deals with dating or whatever. They give freshman a curfew. No parties. Ever. You can attend parties across the city but the dean or anybody else who work there better not find out. The campus is dead 24/7. People are stick to their cliques. Its like high school pretty much. The school doesnt even have my major. The staff misleads you. There is no college atmosphere at all. You cant have sex, drink, smoke and you better watch what girls you talk to because some will call sexual harassment on you for no reason. It happen to one of my teammates. You have to sign in at night every night. You have to attend chapel everyday and you are forced to take 1 bible study class that counts towards your permanent gpa. Then on weekends everyone just leaves and goes home which is what I did too since I cant stand being there and the fact I have to be up there in a couple of hours is dreadful. I want to play this season and transfer immediately after this semester to a better college or to a college that at least have ny major. How do you guys feel?

Oh yea nd you cant have girls in your dorm too…like ever. They’re only allowed in the lobby until 11:45. And the washing room co sist of 2 washers and 2 dryers that hardly work

Why did you go to a small Christian college? Didn’t you visit before accepting?

I would leave immediately if you are this miserable. You may want to check with other schools that accepted you and see if you can still go there. If not, go to your local CC and transfer later to your state college.

Yea I visited there several times. Its complicated but I went there because I wanted to play football and when I got injured some teams ere weary of me especially since I wasnt a big prospect and the other team never told me the finance of the offer so I went to this college instead.

It was your choice to attend this school, and it sounds like they have made you a generous financial offer to attend. If you were aware of the rules going in, I can’t have much sympathy for you. You took their money, now play or go home.

If you didn’t understand the severity of their rules, then you didn’t do your homework in researching colleges. These types of schools usually have a well-known reputation for their strictness, and they don’t spring these rules on you after you show up on campus. It is not in their best interest to try to hide their strictness, they want to attract students who match the campus atmosphere they choose to promote.

So, maybe you heard about the rules, but thought you could live with them and are finding out the reality is more than you bargained for. You have a choice to buckle down, accept the rules, and get to play football. It’s not too late to pack up and go home. Your choice.

To complain about the rules will get you nowhere at this point.

Yep ill deal with it. I just hope time flies

I’m a senior in HS and there is this college I visited in my state called Cedarville Unversity, the rules there are just the as the ones you described. I blacklisted that college immediately! I rather pay more money to go to a public school that I will enjoy and have job opportunities as I leave, than go to the cheap small private school that is almost worst than HS.

Yea but this school is expensive too and I didn’t get a full ride so im still paying.

Wow that sounds like a tough situation and I totally sympathize with you even though I am confused as to why it didn’t seem to be a huge concern when you decided to go there.

I think transferring is a good idea, I can’t really see why it wouldn’t be… would you not be able to play if you transfer somewhere else? Is that a huge concern?

My only other suggestion would be to make sure it won’t be too expensive, because transfer students don’t have a reputation for getting a ton of financial aid.

In the meantime, keep your grades up so you will have plenty of transfer schools to choose from!

Transfer as soon as you can. It doesn’t sound like you’re really going to make a living playing football and beyond that, there’s no reason to go to this school. It isn’t giving you the education you want, and you don’t like the living experience. Get out when you can. Surely, you can find another option with the major you want and less rules that is still affordable. Even if you can’t play on the school football team, there are other options to still stay involved in the sport.

I can’t believe that you didn’t know it would be like this. (Sorry, just being honest!) I considered Christian private schools, but they were either too expensive or too strict (one I looked at prohibited make-up!) Most of it isn’t stuff I’d do anyway, but the legalism is overwhelming, and can create an unnecessarily fearful environment (i.e. accused of sexual harassment for no reason.) There are some good ones, but they were all out of my budget.

Just stick with it for a semester or a year, and transfer.

Withdraw now so you don’t loose freshman status. Try to get as much money back as possible. Take a year off while you reapply to various colleges or call up one of the other colleges that admitted you and see if you can go there for the Spring 2015 semester with the same level of aid.

Yea imma transfer after this semester. Im sure I could walk on to a different team and work my way up. I have no friends here anyway. They dont have my major, and I hate the rules and I feel like im in prison. Its going to be a long semester but once I done with that ill be done with this school hopefully

You might find that as you near the end of the semester you begin second-guessing your decision to leave. Stick to your plan to leave, especially if things aren’t improving for you.

Also, make sure you have atleast visited the college you wish to go to prior to transferring… no sense making the same mistake again!

Yea I might but this school doesn’t fit me academically or athletically so theres no gain and the harshest thing is that I have to leave the scholarship that I had but I pay still anyway and if im gonna pay I wanna at least enjoy it

If you need financial aid it’s far better to apply as a freshman than as a sophomore transfer. Why would you want to spend a semester being miserable at a school which is clearly a poor fit for you when you can still get most of your money back?

So I can play football and trasnfer after the season

WOW People say “Leave College”: it is sooooooooo easy to say. But leave college is really hard, you worked for a dream and now You have to leave it.
I don’t think you should leave, you should work hard at college and then have fun. Look for some ways of have fun. Hidden things are the funniest.

If you stay just to play football, you will lose the ability to be a “incoming” freshman at a different school. Simply put, it’s the fall or even Spring first semester Freshmen who usually get much better financial aid offers than transfer students. Once you have those credits from a semester, you may not get good financial aid. The wise thing to do would be to leave school now. Yes, you lose the ability to play football, but what are you really in college to do? Play football…or get the education and then career you want? You could be risking your ability to afford another school, and then find yourself trapped at this school you hate! Is football there worth that risk? Get out now!
