Basically, I submitted the wrong CommonApp essay - I had one down originally with a few errors on it just to see how editing works via CommonApp, and I never switched it out with my finalized one.
I know this is a stretch, but is there anything I can do at this point besides cry myself to sleep?
Please…I’m desperate right now. I submitted around 11:30 and didn’t check until now. I know this was extremely stupid on my part, and it truly is all my fault, but is there anything I can possibly do? The two schools I applied to have been my dream schools for a really long time, and I worked so hard during high school to make it there. Now, because of one stupid error, I’ve ruined my chances of going.
Also, the one I had originally was a completely different essay - I was seeing how editing works, so the one I submitted is incomplete and has errors everywhere.
Is there any way I can rescind my application and move to regular decision even? My mind cannot function right now, I think I’m going off the deep end
You can’t do anything automated to change it. You can call the schools tomorrow and ask if you can send a substitute essay. Not sure if they will allow it, but I think it is your only choice.
Thanks. I doubt they’ll allow it, as it’ll seem like I had an extra day to work on it.
I wouldn’t say that to them. They probably know no one would make the mistake you did on purpose to get extra time. Just matter of factly explain that you had an old version of the essay in and did not realize it until after submitting, and would it be possible to send the correct version?
Alright, thank you so much for the encouragement. I’ll let you know if it works.
