Hi, I'm a rising senior and I'm really anxious about college and admission. Right now I'm reaching for UVa., UC Berkeley, Univeristy of Michigan, Carnegie Mellon, JHU... what not. I want to get into a school with some name value VERYYY badly.

I have 3.82 unweighted GPA (should be about 4.01 with weight) and 2200 on the SAT. For EC I did Model UN, 4 Honor Societies, Tutoring (since 8th grade), hospital volunteer, church youth group leader, and founder/prez. of Habitat for Humanity club.

Any chances of getting into those schools and/or other possible schools with my record? :(

hey,
based solely on your stats(you need to give more info if you want an accurate opinion) you should be more ambitious. Apply to some ivies

most of those that you listed should be easy to get into for you.

could you put some more stats though? volunteer work, etc?

Is that really all that matters to you?

Sheesh.

The five universities you listed all have a very high Cost of Attendance, and three of them are state universities whose financial aid is extremely limited for out-of-staters. Can your family afford to foot the bill? If not, you might want to consider cheaper schools or lower-ranked schools likely to give you merit aid.

-Race: Asian (Korean)
-SAT IIs: Korean w/listening 800 (I don’t think i’ll use this score), Math Level 1 730, just took Math Level 2 (I think i’ll take math once more and biology in november).
-Sports: Track&Field sophomore year, but could not continue due to knee injury
-Volunteer hours: tutoring 3.5+ hrs per week, hospital 3+ hrs per week.
-Awards: 1st place school science fair->2nd place regional science fair

I don’t really have “outstanding” remarks on my EC… I’m afraid that will be the problem :(

Oh, and for the most accurate GPA, 3.827/4 unweighted, 4.096 weighted(+.5 for honors class, +1 for AP class).

it’s not the ONLY thing that matters, but some kind of name value is important to me.
