I really need an answer

What do u think would be better on a college application ! going to a summer program or going to an intership in summer?
PLEASE REPLY BECAUSE THE DEADLINE FOR BOTH IS SOON AND I WANT TO KNOW WHERE TO APPLY AND I NEEDDD HELPPP !! THANK U :)

The one from which you'll most enjoy and grow. Neither is at an advantage over the other -- it's what you make of it.

It's not which one make you look better but which one makes you better.

^ Which is to say those that make you look better are the ones that make you better.

^ Not really. I'm trying to impress to the OP that he/she is fixated on appearances to others before really discovering what will best enhance him/her. Going on a junket to France may be much more meaningless than working a summer at an Animal Shelter. But he/she needs to weigh the choices.

the internship i had two of those on my app and so far ive been accepted every school that has replied to me (3)

Thanks T26E4 and MAL77 but if u were making the choice what would u choose?

lanchik: wow thats a great thing to hear, so u think i should go with the internship.. what kind of interniship did u go to ? thanks for the tip :)

For summer programs usually they accept you if you can pay. Anyone can go if they have money, so nothing special. You have to earn those summer internships and that seems more impressive IMO.

thats helpful thanks reach for dreams u actually have a point i might go with the internship thing, its sound more challengine.. but im still confused ! im afradi regreting or not taking the right step.. but thankss for your tips

I agree with ReachforDreams. But it depends on the specific options.

Internships require an organization to make an investment in you, so they have to see something of value in you before they agree to take you on. And then you have to deliver results for them to keep you. It can be a life-changing experience.

Summer programs have their value: If you are testing out a potential career interest, for example, an engineering program might make sense. Or if you want to be a musician, an intensive music camp advances your skills. Language immersion programs can be meaningful too. Summer programs that involve travel and some nominal interaction with the locals smacks of privledge and self-indulgence.

What programs are you considering?

i found an internship that has to do with fashion design, u work at a magazine u go to photoshoots or an internship that has to do with advertisment and how ur going to be spending your time on it and i really am intrested in those kind of stuff and at the same time i found summer programs such as RISDI that provides courses in fashion design and graphic design.. im interested in design majors or courses so these are the thing i am looking through but i still dont know what to choose so what do u think ?
thanks M's mom or anyone else ?

Internship!..for the same reasons as the other posts. anyone can go to the summer programs, making the internship more exclusive. Plus you can obtain more professional networks, gain experience, and be productive/effecient.

One thing that is good about summer programs though is that they really connect you with the school. Yet, it really connects you to only ONE school, ( the "college experience" was nice too though)..And the networks gained at internships seem handsdown more valuable, than those at a summer program- because they are not as selective, intimate, or challenging.

u also have a great point ATLs09, i agreee ! thanks so much.. i have been looking at internships for high school students but can anyone provide me with any links they know thank u :)

any more opinions ?
Thank you :)

or if anyone knows any interesting internships i could apply to ?
Thank you

I'd say apply to both because there is the possibility that you wouldn't be accepted by one or the other or possibly even either. And then you need to thing about other places to apply to like, for example, a paid summer job!
