FAFSA is an application for aid, it is not money in itself. As has been posted so many times, your school decides if and what to give you based on what you report when you file your FAFSA application. So, FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) doesn't give you any money at all. Loans have to be paid back, sure. And, one of the ways that schools help students is by offering loans at varying re-payment percentages and plans. FAFSA applications will help schools determine 1) need-based aid, 2) government grants like PELL, for example, and 3) subsidized and/or unsubsidized loans. Merit-based aid may also be awarded with FAFSA information, but that is determined, again, by the schools.

To sum up, the only money that has to be paid back is loans. To be sure, that can be a big bite.

Learn about wine and get a job at a restaurant. They are always hiring. In or near a big city and you should walk with $100 cash in your pocket nightly ($200 after you are more experienced and in a better restaurant).
Show up at a restaurant and wine knowledge from a book you read (or an internet wine knowledge site) and your likely to get hired.
Go to Craig's List and look for server jobs in whatever city.

That's what I did and pocket $100-200 a night now.
