I'm just a student, who just goes to a private school...
err... i'm stucked with college essays!!

GPA: 3.7 (unweighted), and our school doesn't weigh.

(Our school's A starts from 94*, hope colleges consider this alot)
and we have no ranks.

Sat I: Math 800/ Verbal 650 / Writing 760 =2210

SAT II:
1. math iic: 800
2. biology M: 800
3. Chemistry: 780
4. Korean: 800

I took 2 APs in junior year (chemistry & euro)Got 4 on both.
GOnna take 3 APs in senior year (Stats,Cal AB, Psychology)
So basically 5 APs in total.

Extra Curriculum:
- 3 years in varsity tennis team (co-coptain in senior year)
- Went to Far East Tennis Tournment 2 times. (only top 5 of 10 players
can go).
- 3 years of Chinese Club (Vice-president: published
chinese magazines every semseter for the school. I was in the club
because i took Chinese I and Chinese II class at school)
- 4 years of community service in dental hospital for *Illegal
immigrants. (I think this is a good one)
- Community service in a normal hospital
- Went out as one of 4 representative in the school English Tournment
- Great artwork portfolio (i really love art)
- Joined UNICEF, traveled to Mongolia.

My dream school always has been UPENN, and
i'm going to apply ED there. Other schools i want to go
are "Cornell, Columbia (blah), Michigan Ann Arbor, and
Johns Hopkins".

Please be honest, and my chances for thsese schools are??

People plz i really need some opinions of yours

hey!
I'm assuming you're Korean from your ID and SAT II Korean.
I'm Korean as well. A starts from 94 as well for my school. where do you live? VA?
neway. Yes the college adcoms will see that A starts from 94, but so do most schools I think. It really depends on what your high school profile says whether your school is challenging and whatnot.

Your SAT I scores are ok.
GPA is not that great, but it's still ok.
Your APs don't seem to convey that you really challenged yourself.
Your ECs are standard, but hospital for illegal immigrants pops up and catches my eyes.

UPenn, as for everyone, is a reach
and Cornell and Columbia are reaches but slightly better chances at them than at UPenn.
Michigan and JHU are slight reach/matches

Good luck!

I'm not seeing anything special on your app.

Captain of Tennis is good and so is the Dental Hospital for Illegal Immigrants.

Problem is that wouldn't such a hospital be illegal as well? Why doesn't the immigration police simply stand outside the hospital and deport everyone? Also wouldn't teh facility be small and low quality?

Your gpa is ok and so are your sats. Unfortunately, Ok does not cut it for schools like Penn, Cornell, and Columbia. All are reaches.

unless there is massive grade deflation in your school, a 3.7 isnt going to help you with UPenn, Columbia, and Cornell. I do think you can get into JHU and Michigan though. Despite what people are saying, a 2210 wont hurt you in admissions. I got into JHU and waitlisted at Cornell with a 2180.
