Man I cannot wait to apply for this school.

Check it out.

I am almost 20 years old, graduated h.s. 2 years ago (currently going to JC), and will be transferring to a UC for my undergrad.

If I plan on going to Law School, I definitely want to go to Columbia. Ohh.

But, I need people who go there/have been there to share their experiences please.

For incoming law school students, do they go all the way back and look at your HIGH SCHOOL transcript? I hear that they combine your JC grades and UNIVERSITY grades as the cumulative GPA.

Would I be walking around a campus filled with a bunch of guys in tucked shirts and formal outfits?

I sure as heck hope the environment over there is not super nerdy.....

Also, could you tell me, how TOUGH is it to get into Columbia?

What must I do in order to reach "definite entry" status?

Your input is highly valued!

you should post this in the law school forum.

actually I mean Grad school or Law school, so all this could apply to Grad school

Sorry though

Oh I wasn't criticizing; just saying that people here are most likely high school students and probably can't help you much. Both parents of my good friends are law professors at Columbia though andI think they have a really strong program. I want to go to law school there as well. Good luck.

Columbia's law school program is excellent. Two of my colleagues recently graduated from there. It is "rated" consistently among the top 5 in the country. But that doesn't mean much. What should truly attract you to Columbia is the number of top litigators who have come from the school, not to mention the number of high profile law firms with strong links to the school. While the prestige is high, I think it is more important to point out the success of graduates in getting jobs in their desired fields after graduation. Columbia is especially strong in corporate law, international law, constitutional law, and tort law, although it is an amazing school all around.

That sounds awesome. I think another huge advantage is its location. Same with the undergrad, but the city is a great resource. There are many big law firms in Manhattan and so many internship opportunities.

how competitive is columbia law school ?
anyone know

and to those have been around the campus, is it super nerdy, otherwise i go elsewhere.

too nerdy for the TTT JC student, correct
