I'd like to see "chance me" threads reserved for people that are truly on the bubble, but that said I think you look like a pretty good chance.

Check out the Fordham.edu site for a profile of last year's class
Class Profile

As you will see your SAT score is in the middle 50% range ... it's on the low end, but middle 50 means that half scored lower and half scored higher.

Your GPA looks good, but class rank seems low ... lot's of other bright kids at your HS!

As for EC's (in a chance thread) avoid the temptation of making the longest list possible. Rather focus on those EC's you have some passion for. Frankly, listing 5 hours of time at the library tends to diminish your otherwise impressive list.

Write a great essay full of passion and you should be fine.

Good luck!

aahh okay

no i know .. my extra curriculars are by no means a laundrey list .. i just didnt elaborate on them in the thread but i have been very involved in all of them , enjoy them ,and held and am holding leadership positions in them

now let me hope that the admissions ppl at fordham are in love with my essay lol

and i am going to work on my sat score .. i am taking it again nextt week =X

So should I take out the 5 hrs of volunteering in my school library ?

EC's are important. However, they are not as important as SAT scores and grades. Fordham takes the whole student into consideration. My kids are involved in activities but rather than doing 10 things, they pick two or three and do them well, stay committed and move along.

What is Fordham looking for in a student? That depends on their particular needs that year and admissions objectives. You have to ask them. But overall, I think its just looking for a strong student who can handle the workload and pressure at Fordham, handle the stress of being in New York (which is very competitive), away from home, bring something special to Fordham where the student can thrive but also give back to the University community and perhaps the larger community in New York. Bright students of course are preferred, but there is more to a person than just scores. And that is what you have to convey to every college in your applications. Just be yourself, be genuine and do your best. The rest is out of your hands and in the hands of the admissions committees. (That is perhaps the hardest thing to accept.)

Good luck.

You're an outstanding candidate, at this point a higher SAT score is not necessary for admission, but may help on fin.aid.

You included the library work for a reason, consider leaving it in, perhaps couch your "second tier" activities under a sibngle "additional community service" category to demonstrate how well rounded you are. It's great to follow your passion, including little things may show how you also have a sense of stepping up to help when it's simply the right thing to do.

In the end, I'm not sure how much room you have on the typical application form to list everything, so work on telling your stroy as succinctly as possible.
