i got of to a pretty slow start in hs and my freshman year gpa and 1st semester sophomore year grades were pretty poor. however since then my gpa has been steadily increasing:

freshman:3.3, 3.5
sophomore:3.2, 3.8
junior: 4.3, 4.4
total weighted gpa after junior year: 3.73
uw: 3.5
estimated gpa first semester senior year: 4.3

i am in almost all honors classes, have a 2100 sat, 32 act, and have decent ec's (200+ hrs volunteering at hospital, 50+ hrs shadowing a doctor, varsity tennis, all suburban jazz saxophonist). however im in like the top 25% of my class now and should be top 20% after first semester.

do i have any chance at all?

I don't think so.

GPA is low, class rank is low, ECs seem mediocre depending on your distinctions in each field, SAT is good but actually below average for Pomona. Considering the 19% admit rate...

sublimo--

If Pomona is your #1 choice, then I would encourage you to apply ED. Your upward progression is promising, and Pomona strives to enroll as diverse a class as possible, i.e., those who have demonstrated improvement and potential as well as high achievers. Be sure to focus on your essays and interview, especially any questions you have for the interviewer.

Good luck!

I'd say you've got a shot, especially if you apply ED. I was admitted RD with a lower GPA but higher SATs, so they definitly aren't going to rule you out based on your numbers. The nice thing about the small size of Pomona (along with other top LACs) is that they can pay more personal attention to the applications and look beyond the numbers.
