I REALLY WANT TO GO TO YALE UNIVERSITY! Will chance back

I am applying next year for political science.
Universities:
Yale! - Political Science Early Decision
Berkeley, ucla, columbia, Cornell
School: Private
Rank: N/A
International

Academics:

Unweighted:

GPA (9): 3.8 (adjusting to new environment - came from developing island previous 10 years, homeless once)
GPA (10): 3.88
GPA (11): 4.0
GPA (12): 4.0 (predicted. Based off one midterm so just gotta knuckle down for a bit)

GPA (9-12): 3.91 - For Universities who look at entire academic high school transcript
GPA (10-12): 3.96 - For Universities who look but don’t consider Grade 9
GPA (10-11): 3.94 - For UCs who only consider GPA of 10 + 11.

12:
Comparative Gov AP
Human Geo AP
English Lit AP
Micro Econ AP
Calculus AB AP
US History AP

Issue:
Not very rigorous course load from 10-11. All academic but only 1 AP and 1 honours course. (Keep in mind this school does not offer honours for everything, but quite a bit. E.g grade 10 I tok 1 hours course, my only B ever, and there were only 2 available out of the courses I took).

Additional Comments on Academic History section:
I am going to say that because of my poor math result that gave me the B, I stared up a mentoring organization to help others. Basically it inspired me to take action in my community, and start to knuckle down in math. I followed the next year with a high math result, winning a math award. I also tutor people in math now. REASON FOR POOR 9 GPA

Work History:
Ceramic Sanitation Technician (Another name for dishwasher lol): Summer of grade 10
Intern at Law Firm (Academic related work - major law firm)

Spent money on purchasing laptop for school.

Good recommendations because private school they do that. From AP political teacher and head of social sciences.

Had help with essay.

Thanks for any feedback. Sorry if I am saying this so early! I know I am only a junior, any feedback on what to change would be much appreciated!

I know this is a soon repost but I had a terrible hook on previous one and I had about 15 views in a day.

Re-take SAT for sure and it is a little concerning that you didn’t take a rigorous course load. Is this because your school didn’t offer such courses or you chose not to take them? ECs are good for the mot part though.

I sent you a private message response.

While you are in the neighborhood, you appear light in a couple of areas: test scores and EC. Even under the most optimal of conditions it will be a fiercely competitive environment. At this stage, I suggest improving your test scores and making a very lucid statement on why Yale? Do no reiterate your test/gpa scores, but rather, cogently explain on what you would add to the academic community. Best–

This will really come down to how good of an essay you can write about being homeless.

I think with improved test scores, you’d definitely have a shot! Unfortunately, you’re international, which means that it could potentially be much harder for you to get in, depending on what country you’re from.

Your ACT is stronger than your SAT, so I’d recommend focusing on that. The fact that your writing has been published makes me think that your essays will be very good, which will definitely help you.

What worries me is the fact you didn’t take a rigorous course load in previous years, but there isn’t much you can do about that at this point.
