I received a decent score on both my ACT and SAT. Do I submit both?

I have taken the SAT once and the ACT once (I took the September one but I don't know what I got, so for now it's once) and I received good scores on both:

SAT: 2100 (680CR,700M,720W)
ACT:32 (31E, 28M, 33CR, 34S) 10 essay

Should I send both to colleges or stick with one or the other? On the conversion table a 32 on the ACT is a better score than the 2100. Some have told me to stick with the ACT because it's better and some have said to send both because they say it's better. What's your opinion?

I’m on this part now for my apps so any advice would be appreciated.

I think that you should only send the ACT. This will save you money and I really do not think it gives you an advantage if you send both. A computer reads your scores anyway, it is not like the admissions people actually scrutinize your score report(s).

Although technically the 32 is slightly better, sending both will only help and not hurt your apps in this situation. You have two strong and relatively close composite scores that support the case for your academic strength. Sending both is not a bad plan.

Your ACT is slightly better, however, it won’t hurt to send both particularly for the top schools on your list. Your ACT math at 28 is not as good as the SAT math at 700, for instance, the former is below 25% for Harvard but the latter is above. Most schools would look at the section scores closely and one test may compensate the other in the later round of review.

Thanks for the advice! Any other opinions?

Your scores are actually really close on the 2400 conversion, 32=2120, but on the 1600 scale your 32 ACT is a full point higher than your 1380 CR + M. And on writing your SAT is higher, 740=ACT 32 and you got a 31E (but your essay was a 10 so…) Anyway the point is you are really very close. The weaknesses in each score are in different areas (the 680 and the 28 kind of stand out). If you get 30 or above on math on Sept ACT I would say you could definitely just send those. But the math was incredibly hard in September I read on numerous threads here :(

My D is in same boat as you, trying to decide which to send. She has taken the tests once each and scored 2250 and 34, (actually she’s also waiting for results of the Sept ACT also, she retook it bc her math was lower than other areas). The ACT is slightly higher on concordance charts and her college counselor told her to only send the ACT (he’s a good counselor, went to Hamilton and worked in admissions there for 8 years). But he also told her not to send subject test scores which are 720 and 760, so he may have a strategy in mind bc she is applying to a lot of really tippy top schools. If money is an issue of course only send ACT.
To me personally just glancing at your scores the ACT looks better but I think that’s because of the 680. Do you have any interest in also re-taking the SAT this fall and maxing out your potential and options?

Because my ACT was better my counselor have me the advice to just focus on the ACT and not worry about 2 separate tests.
