I applied as an Emory Scholar but was not choosen. However, I heard that during the time for selection of Scholars, the ad coms also choose who gets in come April from the pile of rejected Scholars apps.

So does Emory's encouragement for me to apply for finaid mean that I am in or is it a common place occurence cause everyone receives it?

So does Emory's encouragement for me to apply for finaid

I don't think it was encouragement in that sense; I think they were just stating a fact. The schools generally want to choose from the widest possible group of applicants, so it is routine to send out notices of which items are missing, so they can add you for consideration.

It's all automated. I've gotten like 4 of these emails since starting my Emory app many months ago. It's just to give periodic reminders in case Emory hasn't received something that somebody thought s/he had sent.

Does anybody know how quickly the FinAid office updates OPUS? I know that USPS says my forms were delivered a few days ago (return receipt tracking) but OPUS still says I'm missing them. Hopefully they aren't like the adcom who updates approx. twice a century.
