I regret to Inform you....

I recieved a letter from Senator Russ Feingold today. It says that I was not nominated by his office.... BECAUSE I WAS NOMINATED BY SENATOR HERB KOHL!!!!
I haven't heard anything from Senator Kohl yet, so this came as a suprise. Of course I have an LOA, so how soon will I hear back from the Academy? Would anyone recommend calling my admissions office to talk to them?

Congrats! It's kind of funny how applicants to the Service Academies always seem to get information in round about ways like this or on the DoDMERB site.

inhibitor,

Congratulations on the nom!

I wonder how Sen. Kohl will feel about his nom announcements sent by Sen. Feingold, though.

Congrats!

We know what you went through. My son recieved two letters from the United States Senate on the same day from each of his senators.

He opened the letter from Senator #2 first, which was the "we will not be considering you as we have learned that Senator #1 has nominated you" letter before opening Senator #1's "Congratualtions!" letter.

PS - I would wait until you hear from Senator Kohl's office before you do anything. Perhaps he was too busy dealing with his basketball team. ;)

Time frame:

Our senator sent in the slate immediately, so the appointment came about two weeks later (USMA). Our congressman hasn't posted his yet, although S got the call a week ago...nothing on CIS. Had hoped appt. would come b/4 Christmas, but that is doubtful now. Sounds like you need to watching for the FedEx truck!

inhibitor - my nom from Senator Kohl showed up in the USNA CIS before i got my letter, so West Point probably already knows about it and should act on it soon. check the website and see if it's listed under your nominations.

Re: hearing from the other senator first - it's my understanding that senators kohl and feingold work so closely together, it doesn't matter who you hear it from. it might as well be one committee, all candidates competing for an average 20 slots/year, as they will almost definitely not nominate one candidate on both slates.

I thank all of you for answering my questions, as being informed was a key factor in getting me this far and fostering my desire to attend the USMA.

I'm applying to usafa, but I was in the same situation. I checked the website every day, and within around two weeks of getting the nomination, it said appointment offered. I'll be checking the mail waiting for it anyday now!
