I saw my scores and was like "Yaaay-WAIT WHAT THE ****?!". Advice please!

I got my scores today. I don't know whether or not to be happy :/

Math IIC: 800
Physics: 800
French: 580 -- This is the one that worries me. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely over the moon about my other scores, but I was getting around 730 in French practice papers.

I think I might have misbubbled half of my test - as in at one stage I skipped a question but didn't skip a row on the answer sheet, causing me too bubble all my answers one question behind!

Is there anything that can be done about this? Will I seriously have to retake in January since Harvard asks for 3 tests or is it possible for me to explain this score to colleges?

Basically, I take Math HL, Physics HL and French SL at IB, and I'm predicted 7s for all. Universities use SAT subject tests to see whether your school grade inflates/deflates, but in that respect my scores seem pretty erratic...

Please tell me that colleges will be understanding of my stupid bubbling error!!!

I don’t think you can explain a “bubbling” error because that sounds pretty thin.
Almost all colleges want the latest scores to be the December tests…January
is a bit too late. I personally suggest you send all three and contact one of
the Admissions officer about that French score. Tell him/her that the score
doesn’t truly reflect your ability (rather than complain on and on about some
stupid mistake you made which really does sound…an immature complaint even
if it’s 100% true).

Nice scores on the first two! :)

Ok thanks. If I do contact the admissions officer, how exactly do I justify that the scores don’'t reflect my ability? What exactly do I say?

AHH I feel like such an idiot. I’m fine with schools that allow score choice - but Harvard requires 3 SAT subject tests and Berkeley sees all scores. I had a slight worry that I might have misbubbled but thought I’d just leave it and wait until scores came out. But I didn’t want to cancel all my scores…

I’m an idiot…

If you just misbubbled, then you don’t need to study for the next test very much. So couldn’t you try taking the Dec test on standby? And congrats on the Math II & Physics tests.

I’m with gerontius. If you TRULY believe you misbubbled, ask for you test to be handscored. Regardless, plan to take french standby on December 5th. I think this is your best bet.

Good luck! Awesome first two scores, by the way. Congrats!

Not true. Most if not all schools accept January SAT scores. They even go as far as accepting February ACT scores. Take for example MIT:

“If you take the January test, you must list MIT as a school to receive your scores or we will not receive them in time for our review.”
