I Screwed Up .. Do I still Have a Chance?

Freshman year everything was really easy .. I got all A's except one A-...ended up with a 3.9ish. Then came sophomore year where I just ... messed up. I piled on the honors courses/APs etc and ended up with 2 C's ... 3 B's .. and only 1 A. First semester was what killed me .. I got C's and B's and couldn't recover, even though second semester was basically all A's. It just couldn't bring up the final grades enough...

Junior year I slaved away..managed to get all A's and only one B. Senior year has been looking even better .. straight A's so far.

ACT is a 32. SAT is 2100.

ECs are okay. Joined a few clubs/few leadership positions. Also did XC all four years. Made use of my summers and did two internships and tons of volunteering. Lots of church service as well.

I'm Chinese.

I live in Ohio. The standard college is OSU. I just can't go to community college .. I wouldn't know how to face my parents. Asian pressures and whatnot. Do you think I could get in to OSU? I know sophomore year was messed up but it was only one semester of damage. Can I still get in? I've heard that my ACT/SAT scores alone can get me in .. though they aren't that great?

And OSU isn't exactly my dream school either haha. Could I get into some slightly more prestigious places - say, Case Western? I know I can't aim for top 20 .. not with my stats, but do I still have some chances? Case, UMiami (florida), Pitt?

And is there ANY chance at all at places like University of Richmond, Rice, Emory? :/

Sigh. So bummed I screwed up soph year. No family deaths or anything .. dumb reasons really. Is this going to cost me my future this much? Please be honest, I don't need any pity parties, just honest advice.

I think with a good essay explaining what happened Soph year you could possibly go to schools above the OSU range.

What are you crying about? I did a rough calculation of your GPA and it looks like it will be around 3.6 +/-. With your 2100 SAT and 32 ACT you could likely get into a better university than OSU. What is this ridiculous talk about CC? CC is for students with <3.0 GPA and poor SATs.

My older brother got into Richmond and he had mostly Bs/Cs his freshman year, then mostly Bs afterwards. His SAT was 1800. Played baseball and joined one club, plus some community service. That’s it. I think you’ll be fine. You’ll need good teacher recs and essay.

Emory/Rice are probably out of reach.
