I screwed up in taking the SAT subject test instead of the SAT reasoning?

I'm a senior and I think I screwed up big time because I took my SAT's once back in May and I did not do so well. I wanted to take the SATs this coming December, but for some odd reason I decided to chang my mind and my thinking was that if I take an SAT II Math Level 2 it will likely cover up for my horrible math score on the SAT, but it seems like my thinking was incorrect. Will taking the SAT's in January be too late? Should I take another SAT Subject test along with the Math Level 2?

I also took an ACT test this past October which I did slightly better on than on my SAT's but still wasn't so great.

SAT Reasoning
480 Reading
490 Math
470 Writing

Yes, I know my SAT scores are way too low and is really bad!
ACT Composite: 22
Major: Computer Science

Thank you!

If it’s too late for changing, which I’m not sure of (just call them and ask to change to reaosning), than stock up on subject tests in stuff you probably know (Physics, World History for me). Else, change to reasoning.

It really does depend on the school, as well.

What schools are you going for?

Oh okay wow I didn’t even think of that. I thought that it was set in stone and that I can only change the kind of SAT subject tests that I want to take.

Thanks a bunch!

CultClassic, Well I’m not shooting for Ivy League schools, but schools like NYU-Poly, Stony Brook, NYIT, City College, Fordham University and Manhattan College.

take the act, do a zillion problems from the blue and red book.

wcao9311 I would take the ACT again, but the deadline to sign up passed and there is a huge fee too, for late registration. I’ll have to study intensely for the SAT’s once I change it to the SAT reasoning test. I need to get at least an 1800+

Do you guys have any methods that may have worked for you to solve problems when you took the test?

POE really helped me. If you have time, go back and rank the answers on questions you missed. Try to write one of those short paragraphs in the back of test books explaining why Answer X is better than Answer Y. Minimal brainstorming on the essay, just a few short bubbles and get going.

If you got 490 on Math I…
Son, you shouldn’t take Math II. Yes, taking the SAT’s in January is too late. Take it in December, do a lot of practice every weekend until then.
