I screwed up my first semester of college.

I currently have a 2.78 GPA. The classes weren't really hard. The finals however took me by storm.

I'm currently an electrical engineer but thats no excuse for my low grades. sigh I just want to know ANYTHING about this GPA. How bad it will affect me. How my employers will look at this. PLUS. At my school the Dean's list requirement is 3.00. So. Does this mean I'm not going to get any school financial awards next semester? or is it by year?

Tell me a story to soothe my soul. I'M FEELING PRETTY ****ING STUPID RIGHT NOW.

Finals are killer. What classes are you struggling most in?

It’s your first semester. Take the lessons learned from these finals and make sure it does not happen again. Employers will look more closely at your last semesters of college, not the first ones. Since it is your first term, you have plenty of chances to pull your GPA up. As for any awards that require you to keep a certain GPA, check with your Financial Aid office. My guess is that you get a chance to fix it next semester.

It’s okay. I personally know someone who started off with a 2.7 gpa, but raised it up to a 3.5 by the time she graduated. It just takes time to build and find your study habits. If you didn’t study enough, then you know now that you need to do much, much more to grasp the concepts of your studies. All in all, just work twice as hard next time.

easier said than done, unfortunately. blech.
