Hello, so I applied to 5 UCs last month.
However, as I decided to apply to UC on like 10th of November, I did not have any standardized test scores with writing (I took ACT without writing several times).
And as I was dumb, I logged into myACT and just sent ACT without writing to UCLA.
Yeah, I don’t even know what I was thinking
Anyways, I wasn’t able to withdraw score send even if I called ACT, so it looks like UC received it.
When I log into the portal, it’s there
Scores were not bad, but it just didn’t have writing!
Will this be a disadvantage for me?
The UCs require either an ACT with writing or an SAT with writing to apply for admission. If you have sent an SAT or an ACT with writing, then you have met the requirement and the test with writing is the one that will be used to determine admission. If you have not provided one with writing, you can be denied admission simply for failure to provide required materials. Those ACTs without writing won’t hurt you, but they are not likely to help either.
The UCs will not consider your application without a test with writing score. It’s a requirement for admissions.
They’ll ignore a test without the essay. If you have one with essay by evaluation time, they’ll use that. If not, it won’t be complete and won’t be evaluated.
So it doesn’t help or hurt.
Did you state you will be taking the ACT with writing on your application in December? Do you have an ACT score with writing to send? f so, then the UC’s will be wait to review your application until all the right documentation is received.
