I sent in 2 essays and art work. Will it hurt me?

Was your additional essay good? Or were you sending it in just for the heck of it?

How good a candidate are you? Is Dartmouth a significant reach, and you felt you had nothing to lose? Or are you at the top of your class with Dartmouth as a legitimate option? It all depends on where you stood without all those extra materials.

It is not going to hurt you–sending in excessive extra materials can hurt you, but you did not send in an excessive amount of materials. It will either help you, or make no difference.

I wouldn’t sweat it. I sent in an extra essay and some pictures that went with it, and I’m quite certain I wouldn’t have gotten in without them. Based on my experience, I would say that they can’t look down on it.

Did you send the extra essay by fax? That’s what I plan to do.

No, I sent them in a big envelope through the mail. I believe fax works too, I’m just not very good with the technologies.

thanks! I was so excited at first, I sent them through snail mail, but afterwards I felt like chasing the postmail truck or office or whatever cos I thought it wasnt appropiate. The CA essay I think is good, Im on the top 5 of my class, good gpa, good ec, but horrible SAT, the extra essays I sumbited I think are really good. And the art work perhaps a little confusing but entertaining. IDK…thanks guys.

From my knowledge of the people who work in admissions (I’m a '13) it won’t hurt you, unless you send an annoying amount of extra stuff. And two essays + art is NOT an annoying amount… especially if it’s good!
