I should go to McGill if...

Hi,
i am considering getting my bachelor degree at McGill or UofT, i intend to go into medicine and i am not sure where i should go. Any advice? I know that McGill has a great Medical School, but so does UofT, and that leaves me wondering if i should get my bachelors at one, and then M.D at another, if so, which ones? Assuming i get into both of course.

For undergrad, I think the college is fairly important at U of T. Which did you apply to?

Neither yet, i am in grade 11.
Thinking about my options, i just want to be more prepared and know where i want to go before i apply.

Last I heard, people were saying that McGill’s med school is difficult to get into if you’re not from Qu

This is true. It’s not that the standards are any higher for non-Quebec residents, its just that they have fewer spaces for students from other provinces so it is very competitive. I believe around 90% is reserved for Quebec residents, with the remaining seats split between international and out-of-province. This is very common for many med/vet schools. The majority of their seats are reserved for residents of that province/state, and then preference is given to internationals because then the universities can up their international percentage. I would suspect that UofT would be very similar (but don’t know for a fact).

I imagine this would mean that if the OP is out-of-province, s/he would be better off going to McGill for undergrad and U of T for med school if s/he really wants to go to both.

Thanks so much :)

I live in Ontario, so that works.
I just haven’t been able to get the advice i need from anyone, this was really helpful.
