I was browsing the site, and I came across this:

"First, our admissions process continues through the end of March. While we are in the process of finalizing decisions, we must also begin mailing program invitations so that families can make necessary travel arrangements. However, at this time we are still actively reviewing applicants and making admissions decisions. *As such, not receiving an invitation is in no way an indication of an admissions decision. * All applicants will receive official admissions decisions notification on or around April 1st."/quote

I'm not sure if that eases the anxiety for anyone, but I thought I'd throw that out there.

i called one person and he said it does not mean that u are outright rejected if u don't receive one --- he said that not everyone can make a certain date for the open house so they distribute it in a random order

Meh, haven't heard anything from Stern yet either and I'm from NJ. And it's not helping with a rejection from UCLA and UChicago today. Oh well, at least I got into USC.

I have an AP economics test tomorrow that I have not started studying for because I simply cannot get my mind off of NYU!! seriously, I hope I hear from them soon

alright!! i hope to try and alleviate any worries that any of you may have even though I am just as bad and constantly stalking the mail box. Okay, so I called about two days ago and the guy said that every accepted student eventually gets a card, whether or not it comes before or after the formal acceptance. It's clearly random, but I've also been told by many that the "early" cards are meant for the people that NYU strongly wants :( (again idk how true this is--this is from what people have told me). Also be rest assured that most of my friends that go to NYU already told me that they never recieved the cards before. So I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though it's so so so hard to wait and we're all dying...you shouldn't think that you didn't get in just because you didn't get a card yet. remember nyu has A LOT of applicants. Hope that helps even though we're all still gonna be stressing!!!

Hmm, I didn't even receive a confirmation that they had received my application and that my application is complete. Should I call them and check?

I hate that NYU does this!!! It is like your brother finding the Christmas presents 2 weeks before and saying he knows what he got and is not telling you!!!

For anyone's info, I have not yet seen any music majors from Steinhardt get postcards. One can only hope this is a good sign for my D I guess although I know that once the FA packet comes we will be sorry we ever cared.

"frank"--I would definitly call. I recieved and email and a letter in the mail about two months ago that my app. was complete. I mean I wouldn't get nervous about it just yet because you might have applied to a different school, which might do it different (I applied to Tisch).

Anyway, I was also just thinking...there are so many people outside of the collegeconfidential blog world that have probably not heard either!! that is sort of always good to keep in the back of my mind. :)

ps. thanks for whoever started this thread!!! i was getting so sad reading all of these posts about people who got in!

Yeah, this thread is really cathartic- thank you!

and Frankchn, don't worry most people didn't receive any confirmation, esp if you applied to CAS. If there was something missing from your app they would have called you earlier this month

mail came today... and nothing. I assume I got rejected since I sent in my app about a week earlier than the deadline, and still nothing from them

"qkr" where did you hear that from?? I'm trying to be optimistic, especially since I know many people who found out on April 1 in previous years. We still have over a week to hear!!!!

and "jh" I may be wrong but isn't Eugene Lang part of Parsons New School and not NYU. I was accepted to parsons art school and I recall reading about Eugene Lang in the brochures and blogs about the new school. Sorry if I'm wrong!!!
