I still have not heard. Problem?

you got waitlisted???!!! OMG!

i'm screwed then.

wow that's scary.

canda dude, when did you apply?

Mid January . . late in the game :( I guess that's what killed me

but still, with your stats i think you should have been admitted.

I think that this does not look good at all for other applicants who have been deferred.

It's possible that UMich thought he was using the school as a safety as evidenced by the fact that he applied so late. Schools who believe an applicant is using the school as a safety sometimes waitlist them.

However, this still doesn't make much sense, considering how good UMich is.

i agree that this doesn't make much sense. If I were Michigan, i wouldn't care if the applicant applied late as long as he/she is qualified.

Michgan's not as easy as i thought it would be :s my gc told me that i wouldn't have any trouble getting into Michigan (my school sends at least 5/60 kids to UofM each year and some to better schools) but i'm seeing all these smart ppl w/ good stats getting rejected!! Aaaaah
I should have applied earlier.. but i can't help being an international

if canadaeh was rejected, then I have no hope cuz I'm international too. and it seems like your stats are much stronger than my stats. wow.. worries and worries...

i don't know how important international or not is to them, but i was accepted for fall2006 with worse stats than that...2000, 3.7 UW, good sports and decent ECs

Honestly, they just don't have any space at this point. I would expect many people to be rejected or on the waitlist. If anyone else gets accepted at this point I would be surprised.

you mean accepted from the pool that hasn't head back ?? or the deferred pool ?

i would say people from the deferred list that have heard nothing else after that still have a decent shot. There would be no reason to defer somebody if they weren't going to have a chance later on. If that was the case, then i think they would be waitlisted/rejected from the beginning. So basically, i think that if you've been waitlisted at this point, than your chances are very small. If you've been deferred, i think you still have a shot.

ryan2288, so you think eevryone that has been deferred who hasn't heard back will get rejected/waitlisted? I know many people who have been deferred and are told to wait till april 15th for a decision. If they are going to be rejected or waitlisted, why the hell is umich taking so long lol.

Ryan,

I dont believe a word of that, i personally know a half dozen people who got acceptances this past week. Very vague assumption, one in which i believe you should keep to yourself or at least provide some validation.

That was just my personal opinion, and not a truth. Sorry for the confusion, some probably will be accepted, but I don't think the amount from the deferred applicant pool will be that high.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys . . .
I never thought of using UMich as a safety. I live across the border (about 40 min from UMich) and I've always loved Michigan football and the school. Although Michigan wasn't my first choice, I didn't blow it off as a safety. I guess this goes to show everyone that you gotta apply really really early, even if you think you have a shot :P

when do you consider as early? could December early? cuz that's when i applied and i really really want to go to Michigan.

Ryan has no idea what he is saying. I'm predicting that 40% of those deferred will be accepted.

do you guys think i have a good chance, since a kid from my school who has worse stats than me got accepted. hes african american.
