I still haven't asked for recs...

For regular admissions, I should probably do this within the next week at most?

At this point, asking for recs over posting on CC would be a much better investment of your time.

What are you waiting for???

Translation: Don’t “do this within the next week”. Do it today. And hope for the best, but expect the worst.

At my D’s school…their teachers have a limit as to the number of recs they’ll do. The first day of school this year, at least one teacher had a sign up sheet on his door. By lunchtime all the slots were full. Think about it, though they really only WRITE one letter per child, some will “personalized” it for each school. So let’s say a teacher has a 10 child limit, and each child applies to 8 schools…that’s 80 total letters! It isn’t like it used to be where you could just photocopy it and put it in an envelope. Some of it is actually easier, since it’s online. BUT…even THAT means TYPING it 8 times per child. Except for the Common app, and that doesn’t apply to a LOT of schools. Then, there are scholarship letters too. My D applied to a school that didn’t require a rec, BUT…then she’s eligible to apply for scholarships at that school and needs 2 recs there.

So - yeah - you better get to asking! Do you have your “resume” ready to give them? Or perhaps your school provides a form so you can let them know what you’ve done throughout your high school time/career. THAT also need to be done. They aren’t going to be happy if you knock on their door and ask if they can write you a rec by the end of the week. Don’t know your school, but…I’m guessing they’d either say No, or … not write a very good rec. Good luck.
