i submitted my online application a week ago today, and i still have heard nothing from yale except for an instant email letting me know my payment of the application fee had been approved. the common app site lists my app as 'dowloaded' as of last monday, does that mean yale definitely has the app? if so, then why haven't they contacted me? is this perfectly normal, or should i be worried?

i'd really appreciate some advice, if anybody has a moment. for those of you who have submitted your apps: how long did it take before you were contacted by yale? was it through email or snail mail? did you call to make sure you app had arrived safely, or would that just annoy them?

thanks for the help

they sent me an email 10 days later saying they received my application (not the receipt of payment email), and then said they would send me a notice via regular mail confirming the same thing and it had the eli number, etc, etc. that was probalby 3 days after the email.

okay, it hasn't been 10 days yet so i suppose there's no need for me to be worried. thanks notfadeaway.

dharmabandit, I sent in my application the same day as you did, and I was just contacted today about an alumni interview. I never received any contact about the reception of my application, though. However, on the common ap. site, it said it was downloaded. I wouldn't worry.

gaaah i really want an interview...

I sent in my paper application October 17th and have heard absolutely nothing from Yale yet. Should I be worried?

I sent my application in the same day and I haven't heard anything back yet, either.

Mine was a paper app they should've received the 24th. I got the instant e-mail reply the 31st but no "eli letter" or whatever yet...

today i got a mail from Yale affirming that they've received my app, and that I'll receive my pin and password in a week or so

do most people get contacted for an alumni interview (if theyve already had an on-campus interview) or is it just for serious considerations?

Mine took about a week. I sent it on Oct. 31, and I just got my e-mail earlier today. I guess it takes a different amount of time for everyone, I wouldn't worry about it.

yeah. i definitely have not been contacted for an interview yet. :(

I also just received my e-mail today and I sent my app on the 31st. I can't wait to get the other information in the mail!

kstern - alum interviews aren't just for "serious considerations"; i believe they're offered to all applicants, unless there is no alum in the student's area. sometimes the alum interviewers are out of it, though, and just forget to contact applicants (this happened to me when I applied to MIT two years ago), so if you haven't heard from an interviewer within a reasonable time frame (if you're applying EA, give it 'til about the 15th or 20th?), contact the admissions office and see what's up.

good luck, you guys!

what if i already interviewed on campus in september? would they need a second interview? has anyone else been in this situation

KStern,

You can still be contacted by alumni for a local interview. I interviewed on campus in October but I made sure to ask the admissions officer if I could get another one at home, too. It's up to you to accept or decline, but I wouldn't pass up another chance to make a good impression.

I sent mine on October 17th and was somewhat worried because I hadn't received any notification, so I emailed the admissions rep. in charge of my area. He emailed me back in less than an hour, stating that they had received my application. It probably just takes a while to get everything sent out.

So if I turned in my application online on 10/26 is it odd that I haven;t been contacted about an interview yet?

I sent my paper app. the 17th and have heard nothing about alumni interviews, and I know there is someone in my area.
