I submit the wrong form of recommendations?

Hi everyone,

I have a small trouble with my recommendation forms. After finishing my application and reviewing it, I realized that I gave to my teachers and counselors the "common app" forms, not the Columbia forms. I can't meet them anymore until my school comes back, which is already late for the deadline(January 4th). I'm really curious if anyone was in this situation before, and I want to know if this will hurt my chances of getting in. Will Columbia "sympathize" and accept those forms? They are essentially the same though, but this is tricky. I emailed them but they are currently on holidays.

hey don’t worry, columbia is used to the fact that not everyone is so kind as to use their own recommendation forms (some schools actually refuse to allow it). they will sympathize. if you want to give your teachers just the cover forms and have them fax in that sheet, that’s something you could do (though unnecessary in my mind)

Hi, I’m having the same problem right now. I’m just wondering what happened? Did you get accepted? Did you get penalized for not having the correct forms?
