You have everything that would be necessary for admission to a top-5 school.

Write devastating essays.

Get dominant, glowing recommendations.

Make yourself look like a god.

And then you MIGHT get in.

Seriously though, you have a very good chance. Everything you have there is above-average for admitted students at HYP.

I got my SAT 2 scores a couple days ago...
790 US history and 780 Math 2. Is everyone in their applicant pools going to have an 800 for Math 2? It seems like everyone on this site does, and I refuse to retake a 780...

Those are excellent scores. You're right not to retake.

wait... someone said that you have a chance if you pay the sticker price...

but HYP are need blind finance whys....

... doesn't that mean that they accept you regardless of whether you can play or not?

OKay, I know I'm beating this "what are my chances" thing to death, and you all don't know any better than I do, but I need to ask someone, it's sort of a psychological thing...

I know this is bad, but I'm no longer applying to Yale because I don't want to take another SAT II, on which I will inevitably do badly, so, my revised list is...

Cornell, Brown, Columbia, Penn, Tufts, Amherst, Swarthmore, Duke, Rochester, Boston College, SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Buffalo (honors programs)

I've got some cuts to make (my parents will never pay for that many apps), but I want to apply to a bunch of schools with different atmostpheres so that I can keep my options open. I'll be applying to the college of arts and sciences for each of these schools (history major)

thanks for any more comments, I hope you're not all fed up with my asking...

I really think you should re-think your sat II decision. Why limit where you can apply by refusing to take just one more, one hour test? If all goes well and you score well you will have 3 good sat II scores to show the schools that want 3. If the test goes badly, then for the ones that only want 2 you have 2 good scores and these schools claim they only count the two highest anyway. I admit that my idea of a good time is certainly not studying for an sat subject test, but I think you should do it anyway and not limit where you can apply.
