I submitted my FAFSA on time but forgot to put my SSN on coalition app...please help?

I called financial aid and fixed it today but I still am extremely worried. I just totally forgot to put my ssn. My dad submitted the FAFSA on time before the priority deadline (March 1$ but unfortunately it was only matched to my application today. Do you think I still hAve a good shot at getting some grant money?

Putting your SSN on your application helps the school match it to a FA application, but is not required. If your app and FA have been matched, you’re good.

It was only matched today, and the priority deadline for financial aid was march 1st. He was accepted yesterday but with no offer of aid because the application was not matched to his FAFSA. Hence my question, do you think he still has a shot of getting grants and loans?

Loans do not have a priority deadline.

You have to read the ‘priority’ requirements. Most require you to file by March 1 (March 2 in California). Schools can pull the information from FAFSA whenever they want to.

Yes but they’ve probably already given most of their grant money so the odds of me getting any quite slim, right?

What colleges?

Why don’t you call them and ask.

Most schools don’t give out grant money until the priority deadline passes. That’s the purpose of having a priority deadline. Some schools have a deadline and then no one who files after that date gets money from the school (Calgrant has a March 2 deadline, so nothing if you file late). Some schools do give out funds to the earlybirds first, and then they run out as time passes.

Lots of different methods. You have to ask which your school is using.

What is coalition app? Common app?

@mom2collegekids

There is the Common Application…one college application form used by numerous colleges.

And the Coalition Application which is a different college application form used by multiple colleges.

Two different forms. Sounds like this student used the Coalition Application…and forgot to enter the SS number.
