-Counselors gave a glowing recommendation and she said that she wrote about the 11th grade explaining how inevitable the drop is and supported it by stating my ranks and stuff!!

ESSAYS:
-The best I could come up with...to prove that collegeboard wrongly analyzed my writing abilities.

Extra Information: No Legacy....NEED TONS OF FINANCIAL AID!!

Colleges I am applying to:

-Princeton
-Dartmouth
-Cornell
-Duke
-Northwestern
-Columbia
-UPenn Wharton!
-Brown

I know my list is dreamy!!

So I want your verdict on it and PLEASE RECOMMEND ANY GOOD MATCH (or In) Colleges!!! The colleges should preferably have a good reputation and should provide financial aid!

Please HELP!! And I would definitely return the favor if you add the link to your chance thread!!

And reply asap...have only a week before deadlines!!

bump!!

(10 char)

As you’re applying for FA, your chance at non-need blind colleges are much reduced. As a result, you should either focus on the top few need-blind colleges, or on the second tier colleges (16-100) and LACs.

Colleges that are completely need-blind for internationals:
Dartmouth College, Harvard University, MIT, Princeton University, Williams College, Yale University, and Amherst College

P.S.: SAT Writing is ****.

Please elaborate. Colleges don’t like to see Ds/Fs junior year, period.

great subject tests :))

emphasize some leadership because I didn’t really see that in your list.
As for essays, the collegeboard do semi know what they are talking about so maybe have a teacher or counselor to read them before you send it out ( if you haven’t already)
good luck!

@ Herunar

I am applying to all need-blind engineering college!! Amherst and Williams do not have engineering!!

And where you saying that my SAT writing is **** or the whole section in general is ****!! I agree on both!!

@wittywonka

My guidance counselor did expand on that…I requested her to!!! She wrote about the huge leap in course work and strengthened my side by stating my rank and everything…or atleast that is what she said!

@RueCambon

I am emphasising on all that I have done in the clubs in almost all my essays!!..and my essays are being proof read by a bunch of people!!

Good Luck to you too!!

Thank you alll…

ANYMORE OPINIONS??? PLEASE!!!

Your list is full of reaches, all I can say is write stellar essays

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/831914-chances-cooper-union-i-am-urm-please-help-anxious-senior-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

stellar essays are on their way!!!..I know all of them are reaches…can you suggest any good matches???

I cant say that I can, I’m a lot like you, reach or safety (well according to your post what I thought to be a HIGH REACH was a “80% in” ■■■■■) Just look around here for the names of schools with your major, research them and see if you can see yourself going there

would you mine chancing one more time i just made a new thread with my entire list
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/834010-anxious-urm-senior-please-chance-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I can suggest two good safeties, they are at the bottom of my list in my thread!

WOW. Junior year is… ouch. I don’t really think 67%s happen to most Indians, as least not the ones I know… and it’s a double ouch because Junior year is essentially the most important year. That huge downward trend is really going to hurt you. Everyone takes harder classes junior year; not everyone kills their GPA. And being Indian won’t help you either, since you’re competing with a group of kids who all have great stats. Plus, 2000 is very, very, very low for a bunch of your schools, not to mention your demographic.

-Princeton: nearly no chance
-Dartmouth: reach
-Cornell: reach
-Duke: mid-reach
-Northwestern: mid/low reach
-Columbia: reach
-UPenn Wharton: nearly no chance
-Brown: very high reach too

I’d find some safeties… asap ^^

i think they are all reach

my friend had GPA 4.0 in freshman and sophmore year but got 3.0 in junior year. his SAT testings are very simlar to yours. he has very little ec. he got rejected by Boston College early decision.

so i would write an essay about how you got 67% in your junior year or i would look for safeties.

sorry man, i hope this helps

it would be great if you chance me
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/834208-my-rd-chances-ill-chance-back.html</a></p>

Yeah looks like they’re all reaches especially considering that you’re an international needing a lot of aid…

Actually, Ivies are all need-blind, and if you get in and make below a certain point, they wil give you a full-ride. Apply to all the reaches you want (you may get into one!), but also look at some safeties and low reaches.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/833648-chance-me-give-any-feedback-you-have-about-these-12-schools-please.html</a></p>

I absolutely do not wish to squash you dreams…but I am looking at similar schools so I know what the requirement are.

You are at a disadvantage being an international applicant. 11th year stats must be explained well by the counselor, top colleges probably will frown upon it anyway. Good to see that you are in ECs, those will definitely help.

It’s not that you absolutely won’t get it, but the list that you have compiled would all be reach schools with your scores/international status. I would suggest applying to a few other schools in addition to these that you will for sure get in. Your essays must be spectacular to compensate for your lacking scores.

You should also know that as an international student you will qualify for MUCH LESS aid than regular applicants. All the schools you’ve listed are pretty pricey!

I think you have the best chance at Northwestern of all the schools, but definitely apply to some easier ones to ensure that you get admission in the US.

good luck! I’d appreciate if you could chance me in return.

“Actually, Ivies are all need-blind” I am not sure about all of the ivies, but I believe that they are ALL need blind for US students but most schools are not need blind for international kids. I, like secret, don’t want to squander dreams, but I think that for you to have a chance at an ivy(and all are of ivy caliber) you need to write stellar(like better than every one of the 30k essays that they receive each year), retake the SAT and get the writing up past 650, and explain the junior year grades(although the rank does suggest that at the school you attend most people do not do well as a junior. Anyways, I think you need to do a lot in a little time to have a shot an ivys. I don’t want to be excessively harsh but I think it is in your best interest to find some good safeties. GL  I’d appreciate it if you would chance me back…
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/831608-q-u-s-o-u.html</a></p>

There are only 7 need-blind universities for internationals in the US.HYPM,Dartmouth and Williams,Amherst.I think all the need-blinds are Huge reach for you.Good Luck!:)

-Cornell
-Duke
-Northwestern

These schools are your best shot. Duke and Northwestern are just not as selective as the ivies you listed and Cornell doesn’t look at your writing SAT score =) but I strongly recommend putting a HUGE emphasis on the reason you got that 67%. Mention it in your essay!

Please chance me too:
