I suck

i just checked my results for the SAT test and i dont know what to do i suck i test taking i was going to sign up for the ACT but i missed the deadline and now i gotta wait all the way until june which i was hoping i was going to be done with all the test before school is out
but anyways here are the scores
Critical Reading 310
Math 430
Writing 330
Multiple Choice 27 (score range: 20-80)
Essay 8 (score range: 2-12)

which is total of 1115

any comments?

did you prepare for it?

yes i did i studied my all

I got 1600...but I blame the girl next to me :( Naw, but perhaps that will make you feel better, but I didn't really try, I answered every question...
I'm aiming for 2k+ in May, and I'm not going to be distracted this time. I suggest you join me.

1115......impossible :/
you got 1070 not 1115
Practice problems = success.

just fyi, only M + CR + W are added for your total score (I think you added in your multiple choice & essay as well...

but don't worry, you'll do better next time. Or take the ACT. Then you won't even have to send your SATs

Answer fewer questions.

Get a tutor or take a formal course. Maybe you will just learn better that way. But if this was only your first try, then don't worry, you still have two good tries available to boost your score up substantially. If you at least have like a B average in school, I am sure you can boost that score up to around 1800. Which will be a huge improvement that colleges may note. But you might have to spend the big bucks and get a private tutor. Good luck!

Oh and by the way, I know someone who literally once got the lowest possible score on the SAT Reading and a really low score on the Math, and now he's a lawyer. So don't stress out too much.

I think a tutor is a good idea too. . . make sure to find someone with experience.

Try to find a way to think of the SAT as a game you can get better at. Don't make it into a test of your actual innate abilities. . . it ain't so.

I think there have been threads on this board about how to tell good tutors from bad. Go read the long post (the xiggi post) on the SAT: it talks about everything, I think, including which prep courses and private tutors.

Definitely get a tutor/ prep course.

Your essay scores weren't that horrible. :D

Better luck next time, mate.

If you really want to take the ACT, you can do it standby the day of the test. Go to your HS guidance office and pick up the ACT standby registration booklet. Fill it out (it's long so fill it out ahead of time, not the morning of) and show up early the morning of the test with a check. My son and a few of his friends did this and had no problem getting in for the test.

for what it's worth, you did two points better than me on the essay and I got above an 1800. You're obviously not dumb, just don't answer all the questions and find some books or get a tutor. It's all just a game, not really a measure of intelligence
