Essay
I will write about a Table. How the table is important to me: In Africa my family and I were in a war and so we hide underneath the table from the bombs. Now, since I am in the USA for many years, don’t know exact number... but anyways, now my parents uses it to talk about bills and how will survive for next day.

So the essay will be a contrast of the use of a table in two different countries and two different situations.

bumpy bumpy bumpy

ill be honest.
the gpa and SAT score will NOT work in your favour (the SAT is not TOO bad)
ECs are ok, maybe if your book got published that would help you too.
but from what you've said you seem like a good writer and that's an interesting essay topic. also the fact that your african (not just an americanized black person) should help too.
so i wouldn't get say its a shoo in or anything, but u still have hope and it all lies in your essay keep going at it and see what happens =D

Try to get that book published, it should help.

you keep on posting this...I know I've read the "table" thing at least twice before. do you really need people telling you repeatedly "it's gonna be okay, it's gonna be okay?" lol maybe you do. in any case, it's gonna be okay. :P if U Penn doesn't take you, I think other schools will

You are what Adcoms refer to as a split indicator: Your SATs indicate academic competence while your GPA says the exact opposite. Such an indicator suggests you have the brains without the work ethic.

While it can be said that a high GPA and strong ECs can mitigate moderately low standardize test scores, the converse cannot. I will frankly be surprised if you get into any top schools, least of all the Ivies (even in light of your impressive ECs).

^what if i'm a split indicator, but i have a rising curve every year

But my gpa raised to 3.5 … did it help?
I am planning to transfer after a semester at penn state.

so after a year at penn state do u think ill make it?

@ your title…“that’s what she said” (sorry, i couldn’t resist)

bumpbumpbump

I think blew it too…

I think blew it too…

^no way…you did not just jack my clever response :0

all joking aside please could you help me…

njaznpremed: it was too clever, I had to steal it lol

I think you have a solid shot. Its impossible to predict these things. THe fact that you’re black will help I guess, and you do really have solid stats, so I’d say a pretty decent shot.

lol @ race64: when u stole his response, u just copied and pasted it not realizing he left out a word…

lol i thought my response was ok (and it was before any of yours)

if you did a year will they still look at my high school grades?
