Okay, when I registered for the SATII's, they let me choose where I can send 4 free score reports, so I sent them.

I obviously overestimated my abilities because I got a 640 on the Chem, a 620 on Math1 and a 5-something on the Math2.

But....I chose to send my scores to uPenn, Yale, and Columbia! (With Temple University as a safety).

Now....are my scores automatically sent, or do I have to activate the sending? And if the scores ARE automatically sent, but I submit the ACT w/ writing, will they look at THAT instead of my SATII's?

Realize that when the College Board sends an SAT score report, it includes all tests taken. So even if you hadn't sent this score report and retook for higher marks, they'd see those scores eventually anyway. PKswmr76 is right that they'll look at the highest scores if you retake. Other than that, there's nothing you can do about it.

Will they look at my ACT scores instead of my abysmal SATII scores, since those colleges (specifically uPenn) will take the ACT + Writing in lieu of the required 2 SATII's?

=O do you have to like...choose what schools to send your scores to when you register? can you just take the test and wait until you apply to colleges and then send them? Thanks.

h0ck3ydo0od: You don't have to send scores when you register. You can order an additional score report whenever you want, although it will cost money.

Esviel: If you only report your ACT scores on your applications, they may assume that you only want them to look at your ACT scores - but I'm afraid I don't know for sure. Anyone else know?

You sent 4 free reports to Yale, UPenn, Columbia and Temple so when you send your application you're SAT II scores will automatically be on your file. They will look at all your scores but higher scores will compensate for lower scores.

I'm pretty sure that if you're some Junior or something that hasn't even applied to their college yet they won't even bother looking at your scores.

I thought that feature was for kids that know they're going to a certain college already.

It's for kids that know they're definitely applying to a certain college, and aren't afraid of sending the scores before they see them.

And it's a way cb can weasel out of explaining charging a ridiculous amount of money to send scores ("we gave you the chance to have 4 free score reports sent!") when you do apply.
