i think i drink too much

i'm not sure though, so someone tell me. i'm a freshman at yale and i binge drink (7-10 drinks - i'm a 5'5 female, btw) pretty often - usually twice a weekend. i drank a little in high school but not often. i rarely, rarely drink to the point of getting sick, as i have a pretty good feel for when i'm over-drinking and i hold my alcohol okay, but i still am really worried that i'm doing permanent damage to my brain/liver. i know i'm not an "alcoholic" but i do worry that my drinking is going to become an issue if i continue at my current rate.

I feel like this post is a huuuuge level, but I'll pretend it's serious anyway and I haven't posted in a long time and drinking is one of my favorite past-times.

Drinking twice a week isn't going to do anything to you. It doesn't matter how much you drink, it just WON'T. Try to argue with me, but I doubt you'll find any conclusive evidence that drinking twice a week does anything.

I almost 100% agree with wutangfinancial. As long as it's not affecting your life in other ways, there really isn't much of a problem. I personally go out four-five nights a week (always Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday; some Wednesdays. . .but I go to school in New Orleans, so that's perfectly normal) and drink far more than you do, but I always make sure that schoolwork and everything else comes first. The drinking and going out is just a reward for, y'know, reading like 50 pages or something that night :)

I'd say it's a problem when you're drinking every day and/or drinking by yourself during the day, but the weekends are specifically made for going out and having fun. You're in college. live a little.

It's been scientifically proven that binge drinking is worse for your body than normal drinking. Ecliptica, you can't even try to dispute that. Sure, drinking 2 times a week is fine. Binge drinking two nights a week, and consecutive nights at that, is terrible since your body doesn't even have a day to recover. I have an issue with people who always use the line "live a little." Hey, just cause I don't drink 4-5 times a week doesn't mean I live any less.

Then again, I'm sort of being hypocritical cause I binge drink regularly... but at least I acknowledge it's doing all sorts of bad crap to my liver.

Right, but the corollary of my statement is not "if you don't think you drink too much, you don't."

The point is, some people may not think they drink too much when they do, but if someone thinks they drink too much, they drink too much.

imo too much but if u dont get drunk with 7 - 10 drinks sure y not

brain/liver thing cant help u out

cough lucifer11287 cough

the guy died in my school. :(

hahahahahaha

most people drink way more than you, noob. just stop by third year so you don't become one of those lame, fat upperclassmen.

Well, how long can you do a keg stand? I find that it's generally related to just how excessive my drinking has gotten. 20 seconds and it must be sports season because my tolerance is pathetic. 30 seconds and maybe it's time to stop being so drunk all the time.

But seriously, in my opinion, drink as long as it's not interfering with your schoolwork or other commitments, and as long as it remains enjoyable and social.

Drinking does NOT kill brain cells. That is medical fact. That's a lie propagated by MADD and other evil neo-prohibitionist organizations.

The fact that the OP took the time to post means she is worried and feels she may have a problem. If I were her, I would ask myself why I feel the need to binge like that (stress, probably) and do my best to find a healthier way to relieve that stress, such as working out. It's a little-known fact that a person can have just as much fun at a party sober as she can high. Try it sometime. If I were the OP's parent, I would be worried.

"It's a little-known fact that a person can have just as much fun at a party sober as she can high."

I find that hard to believe. Alcohol rules.
