Hey everyone. I've been checking my email every hour since the beginning of March haha and today I opened it to find a letter inviting me to the Diversity Open House. One section of the letter reads "This special invitation is extended to you because of your strong academic and personal record and because you will be admitted to Cornell Universitys Class of 2015." This is gonna sound so stupid, but I am definitely in right? (If I keep up my grades and stuff)

CONGRATS!!! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/1102747-diversity-likely-letter.html

i applied also but nothing yet in my email. did anyone else hear yet for regular decision?

Word.

Are these letters only for CAS people? Because I applied to the Engineering School and I’m getting nervous.

:/

Not all CAS people get them either.

I was talking on the other thread cause i didnt realize someone had already asked the question. but no i dont think its only for CAS cause im in CALS:) And i dont think we hear back for regular decision till march 30th

Mindh10 and jojobear the regular likely letters (not the diversity specific ones) for the engineering school will go out tomorrow.

I am almost positive CAS does not send likely letters.

^Nevermind, just saw someone who got one. Either way, I’m sure the vast majority of them are for recruited athletes or URMs.

I got that same letter, and the next day I got the famous big envelope. I don’t know if that’s been true for everyone, but good luck!

Not everyone gets a likely letter. In fact, only a small proportion of the accepted class gets them. Just because you didn’t get one doesn’t mean you won’t be accepted!

Ooooh! Bump!!!

I didn’t get a likely letter from Cornell like that…
Well, maybe, I don’t know.
Errr, trying to say that before ED decisions were released, I got a letter from another college in the university.

Story goes as such:
Applied to CoE (primary) and CAS (secondary)
-Short answer essay = computers
-Long answer = community service
Later, I get a letter from another college in the university (ILR?) saying something on the matter of, “Interested with the government… blah, blah, blah… or helping out with your community? We encourage you to take a look at our college…”

Was that a likely letter? Strange how it was for a college I didn’t apply to.

Your thoughts!?

Do asians count as diversity?

ORM.
Probably not.
