I think I just found my friend's account on here...

I was browsing one of the forums for a school we both happen to be applying to, and since I'm currently procrastinating on my AP Gov project I was sifting through chance threads to respond to.

One of them caught my eye because this applicant's SAT score was exactly the same as my friend's, with the same section scores and everything (my friend's scores are really lopsided, lol). And I was so close to writing, "Hey, what a coincidence, I know someone from the same part of the country who has identical test scores, extracurriculars, and graduating class siz-WAIT A SECOND."

Then I realized that it probably /was/ my friend and bailed out of there, haha. Because it was way too accurately specific to not be true. Stuff like school-specific courses, parents' alma maters, etc.

It got me wondering, how many people from the same school/area are unknowingly reading each other's posts without realizing who the other person is? Do you guys think anyone on these forums actually knows who you are in real life, and would you care if they did?

I have posts that would allow someone to identify me if they knew me in real life. I don’t really care because I’ve never said anything…incriminating on here, but I don’t think it would happen because no one uses websites like this where I live.

Eh. I’ve wrote some pretty humiliating threads. My opinions have changed so much since then that I’d hope people who know me know wouldn’t related my “past me” with my “current me”.

I found my friends chance thread on here a while ago (i was the same as you, thinking it was just a big coincidence). Now I stalk his posts. It can be pretty funny seeing what he says, even though he knows that I know his username. He knows mine though too, so he’ll probably see this. Hi Mike!
