I think I just saw a Black Widow, Urgent

I was cleaning my room, and as I picked up a piece of paper I noticed a small spider on it. Not being afraid of spiders I threw thepaper down and prepared to kill the creature. However upon further looking, I noticed that the spider had a red blotch on its back (almost black red). I wondered, could this be a black widow. Living in Southern MA, its not something we deal with often. Coan anyone with more expertise than me on spiders tell me if this was the real thing, or am I just paranoid. If it is what should I do (leave obviously) but how am I to deal with it, it went under my bed and I lost track of it.

OH dude, I hate spiders, and we just have the small ones.

i think i just saw a cricket in the bathroom

http://images.google.com/images?q=black+widow+spider&hl=en&btnG=Search+Images
and so you can look for yourself.

No my googler is not broken, I just kinda freaded out. I haven't found it yet, but it doesn't look like that. I'm just wondering if there are any other spider that would have that red color on the back

From what you described I know for certain that it is a black widow. The important thing is not to panic or try to kill it, as if you can see one there must be hundreds nesting inside your room. Sleep tight.

Don't worry about them. Don't dig under your bed because you might disturb their nest. If you are afraid, get a can of insect killer (industrial strength, lethal types) and spray it where you think the nest is..

Even if you do get bitten (and I can bet 1000000:1 you wont), it won't be fatal. (worst case scenario of course)

or spray it into a plastic bag, inhale deeply and rid yourself of fear.

Dude that is horrible! I think you should sleep on the couch instead of in your bed room! Was the red dot shaped like an hour glass?????

from my experience....black widows have the red on their bottom side...not the top

Just bomb your house to be sure.

and by bomb i mean buy those bug killers that will fill up your home and you have to wait like 4 hours to get back in your house.

haha, those things kill more than bugs...we has about a dozen dead mice next to the window when we bombed out house once

I wouldent worry about it.

"From what you described I know for certain that it is a black widow. The important thing is not to panic or try to kill it, as if you can see one there must be hundreds nesting inside your room. Sleep tight."

I hope you're being sarcastic

To tell you the truth..I wouldn't worry..

Knowing myself...I would just plop down to sleep forgetting about the spider...

I'd die of fear.

Gross. We have a bunch in our garage. Black widows usually live in areas that are dark and sheltered, and they seem to like wood, or stacks of wood. If you don't store firewood or something in your room, it may just be a stray that wandered away from its nest. Or, it could have a nest. You should check it out before sleeping in there, because if you roll over in the night and bother the little feller, you could be in for a nasty surprise.

You could turn into spiderman.

Or you could become ill...

was spiderman bitten by a black widow?
