It's not really because I was slacking. The school I'm worried about is Purdue (OOS). Here's some quick stats:
frosh year - 2.46 gpa (no advanced classes)
soph year - 3.54 gpa (no advanced classes)
jun year - 3.74 gpa (no advanced classes)
sen year - 3.2 gpa first semester (b/a/b/d/c/c) (ap chem/ap bio/ap lit/c++/precalc)
I haven't sent in my midyear report yet I don't think (unless it's automatic). I'm worried now because my worst case scenario for 2nd semester is B/A/B/D/C/C, which equates to a 3.2 AGAIN. The D is in ap chemistry which is the toughest course in our school. The A is in ap bio. Best case scenario is A/A/A/C/B/B which probably won't happen. Thoughts? Is there a such thing as academic probation which I could appeal for?

Bump.. any help please

to get rescinded you have to do AWFUL, like well under 3.0

i think most schools will give a warning, last year someone I knew got in early to some good school (not an ivy or stanford or MIT but still really selective, im blanking on it), their grades slipped at the start of 2nd semester and their 3rd quarter grades would be sort of weak. the school got in touch with my schools guidance counselor and let them know to talk with the student and stop their grades from keeping falling. the student got it together and it was all good.

That makes it seem better.. I have heard of kids with D's getting rescinded though.. how would it look in my case? I think I might get the exact same grades for both semesters senior year, look:

Precalculus B/B (advanced)
AP Biology A/A (advanced)
Spanish III B/B (college credit)
AP Chemistry D/D (advanced)
AP Literature C/C (advanced)
C++ C/C (advanced)

3.1666 2 times in a row.. that is pretty bad isn't it?

if you got accepted with a 3.2 from first semester.... there is nothing to be worried about at all.

No I doubt they've seen my 3.2 yet.

you are taking a bunch of aps.... don't worry about it

well, i know its a Mary Antoinete type statement, but please try to pick up that Chem mark.
Main thing is to stay above 3.0... and why not email the college and speak to them?

Ok so let's say I do get rescinded; can I appeal it?

i dont know about that.. probably can. Thing is.. if u are rescinded, ur finished this year almost as you cant go anywhere..!

Just try to make sure that doesnt happen.

Well I can easily just go to a lesser state school which I doubt would rescind me; I just need to go to Purdue.

3.2 isn't that bad. I think the cutoff is 3.0 for the toughest colleges.

Well when you consider the 2 D's in AP chemistry.. I have heard however that Purdue accepts 80% of applicants; it isn't a very selective school, but would it kick me out for getting D's? Even though it's a D in the toughest course offered?

a 3.2 is good for most schools.

@Indian: no, I don't think so (assuming my opinion counts for anything;)) It's a hell of a decision to accept someone, give him a period of elation, and then just take it back.

the two cases talked about here are
1. That thief who stole people articles.. forget her name
2. One kid who got a 1.3 in his senior year

yeah that chick goes to a university in Scotland now...Do they just take away admission for getting a D or U?

Guidance counselors usually send in the midyear grades without the student's asking since colleges require them. I'm pretty sure Purdue has already seen those grades.

The best thing to do is talk to your GC to see what has been sent. Explain your fears. It's much better to keep these things in school if possible instead of drawing the college's attention to them.

"I have heard of kids with D's getting rescinded though"

Indian, did those kids receive more than 1 D? Also, were their admissions rescinded from a selective, or non-selective school?

Hi, did u happen to hear back from purdue?
im sorta in the same boat…
