I applied for financial aid via the CSS under the Noncustodial profile by the Nov. 15 deadline. Having just checked my to-do list today, it says:
Noncustodial PROFILE information is required of all students whose parents are separated, divorced or never married who wish to be considered for institutional financial aid. Please have your noncustodial parent complete the Noncustodial PROFILE Application by the deadline below. If you cannot have your noncustodial parent complete the Noncustodial PROFILE, under certain circumstances NYU may waive the requirement. To apply for a waiver, you must complete the NYU Noncustodial PROFILE Waiver, available online at http://www.nyu.edu/content/dam/nyu/financialAid/documents/cssprofile-ncpwaiver.pdf . This form must be submitted with all required documentation by the same deadline as the Noncustodial PROFILE which is listed below. Please allow for ample review time. It is not advised to wait until the deadline to submit the waiver request, as a Noncustodial PROFILE is still due if the waiver is not approved. We will not accept late waiver requests. The Noncustodial PROFILE (or Noncustodial Profile Waiver) is due by November 20th for Early Decision I applicants, January 20th for Early Decision II applicants and February 20th for Regular decision applicants.
I was not aware of this. Does this mean I am no longer in the running for financial aid? I don’t really know how my parents are going to react to this. Although we weren’t expecting much from NYU in terms of aid, it is probably going to really upset them that I lost my chance at ANY from them.
Thanks
