About 7 years or so ago I was at a university and the whole situation was not great. I was straight out of highschool, living in a shelter and had gotten full pell to go to this school. I rushed into it while also working full time and honestly no one really explained to me that I had signed up for too many classes and had pretty much set myself up for failure. By mid semester I had fallen into such a deep mental health crisis. I quit my job and just LEFT. I didn’t withdrawal from the school, I didn’t do anything. Just left. 7 years later I’m in a much better place and in my second year at a community college in my new town. When signing up for this school I really figured since I had not completed any of the courses in that university, and I was a first time student there that I would be also considered a first time student at this school and not need to send that school’s transcript and just start over. A fellow student I was talking to mentioned a similar situation he was dealing with and some things he said made me question the validity of my admission to the school, so I started to google some things and all I can see is “expulsion”. I’m very worried as I’ve done much better for myself and have a 3.5 GPA and about to apply for the Radiography program after having finished all the prereqs. I’m curious as to why my community college did not ask for the transcripts from my old university, or find that I was admitted to another university? Am I going to be expelled even after finishing so many classes at this school? Any advice I would greatly appreciate because I am truly worried all this effort was wasted for nothing.
Talk to someone at your school. Explain the situation you were in years ago, and explain that you did not intentionally conceal that history. You did not know.
Request the transcript from the previous school (you can do this online).
But make sure to talk to someone and correct the situation
Your previous fails will not affect your current school GPA.
