I think I need a reality check. Chance me?

So, I think I need a reality check. I think I have applied to colleges that are out of my reach. People tell me I’ll be just fine, but I don’t know. I want to major in Business and have applied to the business schools directly. Sorry for the long post but would appreciate any feedback. I’ll try to help you out, too.

Internships - Two 4-week internships at my father’s company. Have elaborated on what I did in my app.

I have applied to 16 colleges.
Tough - Stern, UMich, Cornell, CMU, UPenn, USC, Berkeley, UCLA
Possible - UVirginia, UNC-Chapel Hill, UIUC, UT-Austin, Emory, IU-Bloomington, UWisconsin-Madison, UWash-Seattle

I think my essays for Virginia, Chapel Hill, Emory, UMich, UPenn are the best. Also, I’m an international student not applying for financial aid.

Would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Your grades are pretty good. Maybe a higher ACT score, even an SAT but I think the SAT looks good. Definitely improve on the subject tests like you said. You’re going to have to have good essays! The schools you labeled “tough” honestly are equal to some of those that are possible. UVA and UNC are very hard to get into too as well, people sometimes do not recognize the competitiveness pool of applicants. However if you keep your grades up, write good essays, I think you have a fair shot! Best of luck

Also, my grades fell tremendously after my Std X, but I have now recovered and will reach my potential. That could have a negative impact, right? @southernbelle16‌

If you brought it up, it should help you. Just don’t fall again. Colleges like to see you pick yourself back up and move forward.

Hi fellow Indian!
I think your AP scores and SAT scores could be a lotttt better. Are you doing ISC and AP together?
You’re somewhat like every other Indian applicant out there TBH. You should have probably done stuff that REALLY make you stand out compared to other students as nearly every Indian student has similar stats. I think there’s a gap between the dreams and safeties, because your match schools are a little above and below your calibre. Matches are the most confusing but eh… Your toughies are the same as everyone’s, but I think the best fit for you is Uof W-M. IUB Kelley seems good for the kind of student you seem to be, but good luck with the dream schools and probably getting into Wharton!

I’d say that excluding Cornell, CMU, Berkeley and UPenn, you stand a good chance everywhere that you are applying. What do you mean by grades falling tremendously? If you write great essays, you will at least get into 2-3 of your reaches and the fact that you did not apply for FA gives you a huge boost at the UCs. Best of luck!

NYU Stern: Reach
UMich Ross: Reach
Cornell Dyson: Reach
CMU Tepper: Reach
UPenn Wharton: Reach
USC Marshall: High match
Berkeley Haas: High match
UCLA: High match (can you pay full-freight?)
UVA: High match
UNC-Chapel Hill: Reach (the 82% rule at UNC puts internationals at a large disadvantage)
UIUC: Match
UT-Austin: High match
Emory Goizueta: High match
IU-Bloomington Kelley: Safety
UWI: Low match
UWA Foster: Low match (can you pay full-freight?)

First of all, let’s put your SAT into perspective a 2100 on the SAT is better than 96.9% of all who take it. So, pretty good…almost top 3%.

That said, I say you are a match to all your possibles (Emory perhaps match/low reach). Cornell and UPenn are reaches/high reaches, and the others are all reaches, though I think you will get into one or more of them. Good luck!

Thanks a lot guys

@jazzdancer2102‌ I’ve tried being different through my activities but let’s see. I think UT or UIUC might be good for me
@mumbai98‌ I mean my grades had a significant dip but since then they’ve been on the up and I hope I can make into my reach colleges. Why did you mention the UC’s specifically?
@Catria‌ yes, tuition is not a problem anywhere. I hope I can make it into those high match colleges.
@stepay‌ i like your optimism, but i dont know

Accepted to Indiana and UIUC. Does anyone know if Madison has rolling admissions or not?

Yes, they have rolling admissions.

Grades are good, test scores are great. However, if you are an international applicant (which it sounds like you are), your GPA will need to be higher as there are many other international applicants with better grades/ECs. If you don’t need financial aid, that helps your chances immensely. I am confident you will get into many of the schools you listed as “possible”, however, you have lower chances at the “reach” schools you listed.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/bates-college/1719556-chancessss-d.html chance me for Bates/Colby?

I think personally that the Std X is low. I mean colleges like UPenn claim they know the ICSE system well and they would know the difference between 92% and 95-96%. Everything else seems fine.

Chance back?- http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1724529-interview-preparation-and-affect-on-chances.html#latest

@Bored1997‌ @dennael‌ I did
@intparent‌ thanks but when are most applicants notififed? Is there a specific period?

And does anyone know about when the Kelley school of buisness notifies you of admission after being admitted to Indiana?

I am not sure they have a really set window. I know when my D1 applied several years ago, it seemed to take forever. I think she was not “early” – like maybe got her app submitted in November? And it took a while – I think if you get it in right at the beginning of the application cycle, it is fast, but it really slows down when they get more applications. Maybe someone from WI knows their cycle better than I do, though. My D did get admitted, hope you do as well!

Cornell UPenn and maybe Berkeley will be high reaches because you are international, but I’d say you have a good shot at the rest of the schools. Good luck!
Take a look at my thread if you could

Oh, and I was denied by Red McCombs at UT-Austin. Don’t know what to make of it. Should I be demoralised about my application or just use the excuse of the 75% Texas citizen rule?

I got rejected by UCLA. Now I’m just hoping for USC and Emory. How difficult will that be?

I think you should get those. Your qualifications seem pretty good. It all comes down to your essay, I suppose. Chance me back?
